Goofy's Kitchen was AWFUL......

I kept avoiding this thread because I really want to eat at Goffy's and I didn't want to read a negative review, that might make me change my mind. You pulled a good one! LOL! We're eating at Goofy's on our last day, after all! Getting super excited as my countdown ticks off the days!:yay:

Believe me, no one's heart stopped faster than mine did upon reading this thread title - because, as everyone knows, I have been championing Goofy's all up and down and every which way but loose on the DIS, and to friends, etc. They have a fan in me for 17 years and counting! (See signature pictures below and see my Trip report!) So I breathed a big ol' sigh of relief to know that their service has not slipped to the truly "awful" stage yet. They may have some hits and misses here and there, and some 'off days' or even some CM's who are not really engaged with the guests, and as DizNee Luver said, Goofy's may not be everyone's cup of tea, but if they ever get to a truly 'awful' status, then that will be serious cause for concern!:scared1:

"Pizza Cookies".......Are you talking about the peanut butter and jelly pizza or something else? We haven't been there in a year and a half, so I'm just wondering if this is the same thing that you're referring to. :) Oh..........and I've always wanted to mention to you that I have a DS named Connor too! It seems like the name is getting more and more popular. He is 14, and there weren't too many around when he was very young. :-)

yes, that's what it was. sorry it looked like a cookie and tasted like a pb cookie with jelly. that explains it. I just thought it an ingenius idea to make a pizza out of, ya know??

A MUCH better idea than the tomato sauce and mozzarella on a sugar cookie crust I was envisioning. :-) :upsidedow

Is that awful B'rer Bear still lurking around Goofy's? We had breakfast there in August 2007. I asked B'rer Bear where B'rer Rabbit was. He pointed to his stomach. I gave him a good tongue lashing and told him to cough up the rabbit immediately. He leaned over to my ear and belched. After that, anytime he would walk by our table he would poke me and run or lean over and belch again. My husband tried to warn him not to mess with me on the subject of bunnies.

Besides telling Donald he needed to wear pants at Chef Mickey's, that was one of the most memorable character interactions we've ever had!:)

Ooooh! I have never seen that rascal Brer Bear at Goofy's!! From what I understand, I think Brer Fox shows up at Minnie and Friends from time to time, and I think some of the Brer bunch was reported to have appeared at the Critter breakfast at Storytellers in the past (but no recent sightings, though I think that would be a perfect place for them!). Whenever I have been to Goofy's in the last two years, the ones I always seem to see are, of course, Chef Goofy, Chip, Dale, Pluto and Baloo. They seem to be the 'core group' during my visits, and then there are guest stars who pop in for visits. One time all of those characters were there and Belle was making the rounds as well, and as we were leaving Snow White showed up along with Alice, I believe. On another occasion recently, we had the core five again, along with Aurora, the Prince and Jasmine. Other DIS-ers have gone recently and seen Alice and the Mad Hatter, Fairy Godmother, Minnie, and other characters that I always seem to miss.

In the old days of Goofy's (back in the '90s up to 2000), in addition to the core 5 we would often see Roger Rabbit, Minnie, Tigger, Rafiki, Timon, Meeko, Gadget, Genie, the Beast, Aladdin, Jafar, Captain Hook, the Mad Hatter and others I am forgetting. I think Donald even showed up once or twice in the early days. There were a lot of them back then. They seem to have put a ton of characters over at Minnie and Friends now and Goofy's has a smaller selection. But I still love Goofy's because I am content with the character interaction and I love the food selection and quality.

I did a double take on the thread. That is one of my favorite.
Glad that you had a good time.

Charmama4, don't make us wait too long to see the fun pictures from your "awful" time at Goofy's! I am planning to go back there in July, and I need to get revved up for it again!! I have to gear up for the mass quantities of bacon, fresh fruit and mini-muffins again!!

I have to add to the GK love...we were there Saturday and it was wonderful in every way...pbj pizza, great character interaction, and my fave, eggs benedict.

So what if I have to run 900 miles/day for 6 months to get rid of the weight I gained from that one meal...it was worth it :rotfl:

I really don't enjoy character meals.. I have no kids.. I practically am one..

But Goofy's Kitchen is always really enjoyable.. one of the best character meals you'll find in any Disney resort.

I have no kids either, but I am a big kid at heart, and Goofy's is a regular stop on every DLR trip! Good quality, good variety, fun environment:thumbsup2

Glad to hear you enjoyed your time! We'll be going there next month and I'm really looking forward to it. What time did you have? We'll be there for a 9:30 time, I hope it is a good time. :)
