The Evening of Day 5
Upon our return to the Boardwalk,
Goofy and I spent some time sliding through the clown's mouth and down into the pool. That slide is F-U-N!! You go so fast and it's so long. We both think it's a great pool slide (and our favorite so far at WDW)!
After we tired ourselves completely out, we went back to the room and took a quick cat nap. An hour of sleep felt decadent. Yes, decadent, as the mom of four boys, naps are something I NEVER get to partake in. So, when the opportunity presented itself, I grabbed hold and enjoyed every snoozing second if it.
And then, it was time to get ready for dinner. Instead of heading over to the Yachtsmen Steakhouse tonight, I had made a last minute change, on this evening, we would be returning to The Flying Fish Cafe. Both
Goofy and I thought that one meal was NOT enough and wanted to return. Upon arrival, I saw someone with a glow cube in their drink, Goofy didn't even have to ask for one.

I have this big soft spot for all things that glow and so I 'had' to get our drinks as well.
His children's menu appetizer choice was fruit skewers with yogurt dip. It was actually a dessert offering but they let him switch it out as an appetizer choice.
My appetizer was a gamble. I knew I liked the crab cake here but I was really in the mood for shrimp so I ordered the chilled, wild caught, Gulf Shrimp "Cocktail" . Three (I think) large shrimp rested on top of shaved radishes, frisee lettuce and spiced hearts of palm. It was covered with a creamy verde sauce and drizzled with chive-infused oil. It was a VERY tasty dish and I was not disappointed in my choice. The presentation on it was lovely as well.
Goofy chose the kids fish as his main course. On the menu it was listed as breaded fish on skewers.
Goofy would rather have his fish roasted or grilled so we asked if that substitution would be possible. We were very happy that they were able to substitute a grilled portion of snapper instead. It was served with roasted red potatoes and glazed green beans. There was not one crumb left on his plate by the time he had finished it.
I had the signature New York Strip Steak on a bed of fingerling potatoes with wilted greens and foyot sauce. It was DELICIOUS!
Neither
Goofy nor I can remember what his dessert was. BUT, we both remember that he really enjoyed it. He remembers fruit being skewered on a Mickey straw and brownie chunks but I sadly didn't write down what it was called. And, once again, the concierge had noted that we were celebrating his birthday this trip so it came out with a candle and small chocolate happy birthday 'sign'.
Sadly, the same is true for my dessert as well. I simply forgot to write down what we had. Again, I do remember liking it (or at least the few bites I had room left to enjoy). Here's a picture of what I had, does anyone know what it might have been? Ha ha ha, yes, I cannot even remember when I look at the picture. I know, I am getting old fast.
As we wrapped up a great meal and headed out to the boardwalk, we stumbled upon a magician just starting his show. He was highly entertaining and even asked
Goofy to assist him a few times during his show.
Taking a final 'bow' for helping out.
Another performer. This one 'whistled' instead of talking.
A quick shot of
Goofy before we headed back up to our room. I love the smile he has here.
The rest of this evening we split our time between the club lounge and the snacks we enjoyed there and floating around in the pool. It was a great relaxing way to top off a wonderful day.
