Okay, decided not to go to Storytellers after a few wonderful folks answered my original question!!! :flower3:

So please tell me about Goofys. I've only attended Ariels Princess lunch and my dd enjoyed the character interaction with them. We are bringing some friends this trip so there will be 3 girls, 2 of which have never been to disney so I'm thinking that Goofy's may be better for them.

Do the characters at Goofy's (for dinner) visit the tables like at Ariel's or is it a different type of interaction????

Thanks again!!!:goodvibes

As far as I know Storyteller's only does a character breakfast. And the characters vary between Chip, Dale, Koda, Kenai, Baloo, Terk....basically the bear and cat type characters.

Which characters visit the Storytellers dinner? I am considering this over Goofy's kitchen....what is everyone's opinion???

Thanks!

There are no characters at Storytellers for dinner. They are there for breakfast only. You will see the jungly/woodsy Disney characters such as Koda and Kenai from Brother Bear, Chip and Dale, Meeko, sometimes Rafiki and Baloo, sometimes some of the Br'er characters from Song of the South (rarely) or someone from Tarzan may show up - that sort of thing.

Lots of people prefer Storytellers because it is calmer and more laid back. I prefer Goofy's 100% over Storytellers, both in food variety and quality, and in characters. But to each his own. It's a matter of personal preference. Goofy's DOES, however, unlike Storytellers, have a character dinner buffet. If you want to catch the characters at Storytellers, you will have to eat there for breakfast!:goodvibes

We just officially reviewed them for the DIS Unplugged podcast this weekend. Hopefully, it will be used on this week's show (or not) if they have room for us.

We really enjoy this meal. It has probably the best food quality for breakfast of any of the venues. The buffet is smaller than the one at Goofy's or Lilo and Stitch, but the quality is uncomparable. Mickey Waffles and pancakes are brought directly fresh to your table, not picked up of a buffet line. It is also the lowest price of all the character breakfasts.

The character interaction is top notch and they relate to whatever age child you have in the group. If you are only adults, that is considered.

The main characters are Koda and Kenai, as host, follwed by Chip and Dale. Other attendees are Meeko and Turk. I have only heard of the Bre'ers being there, but never seen Baloo or the others that Sherry mentioned (and we seem to eat there every month or two). The only human is Ranger Jim or Bob or "whoever'. He is sort of the "animal ranger" for the wilderness theme and reminds me of the Ranger in the Humphrey Bear cartoons that Disney once made. He has trouts. Adults need to watch out for the trouts...

This is extremely laid back and much quieter of an atmosphere than the other 2 venues and we never felt rushed, like they had to turn the tables.

We love Goofy's Kitchen! They do a lot of interaction from dancing in a conga line to banging on pots and pans. And, yes, the characters also come to your table. When we went we had Goofy, Max, Belle, Princess Aurora, Chip and Dale. Yes, it was loud but we all enjoyed it... even my 76 year old grandmother who we took to Disneyland for the first time. The food had a nice selection too. I don't remember having any complaints.

We loved our dinner at Goofy's last year. :) On our way into the restaurant, Minnie was at the entrance for a photo op. They brought that picture around to us during our meal to see if we would like to purchase it. They also took a pic w/ her using our camera for us. Then, the characters made their way individually around the room to all the tables. We saw - if I'm remembering clearly - Goofy, Pluto, Belle, Chip, Dale, and the Fairy Godmother. There may have been one more that I am forgetting. They stayed long enough to say hi, give hugs, take pictures, and some played around a bit. Goofy tried to feed my ds some of his food and was a lot of fun. The Fairy Godmother was wonderful and talked to my dd for a while.

A few times throughout the meal, Goofy led a dance for the kids near the buffet area. They alternated between the macarena and a song and dance with banging pots and pans. That was a hit with all the kids there.

The food was really good, too, in our opinion. There was a great variety, it was good quality, and we were all happy with our choices.

We were definitely happy with our experience there, and will definitely go back again when we get to take our next trip!

Yep - as has already been stated, the characters at Goofy's come around to each table. If it is a less busy time, you may get several visits from the same characters over and over again, which makes the kids feel special! If it is very busy, there may be more characters coming by. I have never considered it loud, strangely, but other folks do. It is lively - they bring kids up to do the Macarena here and there, and Goofy has his pot and pan-banging moment, but it is more festive and fun than loud, per se.

The regulars at Goofy's tend to be (and dinner is busier than breakfast, so more of them will be out and about) Chef Goofy, Pluto, Baloo, Chip and Dale. Then there is a rotation of guest stars who come in like Minnie, Aurora and the Prince, Jasmine and Aladdin, Belle, Alice and the Mad Hatter, etc., etc.

I think you will not be disappointed with your decision to do the Goofy's dinner buffet! The food is great quality, all you can eat, the variety is outstanding and the characters are fun. I prefer the breakfast over the dinner, but it looks like dinner has enough choices for everyone to be happy and well-fed!! It is not cheap to eat there but I feel it is worth it.

Goofy's Kitchen is a must every trip for our family, in fact we're doing it twice this time!!
The characters come around & played with everyone at our table, checking out bracelets, playing with hair, making moose antlers behind someone, hugging, dancing around, signing autograph books, & just talking to us. It is a blast!!! They also do group dancing & noise making. Be prepared for a noisier meal, but oh so worth it for the fun that comes with it!!

We LOVE Goofy's  :cool1: :rotfl:

DizNee Luver - oh my you have 7 kids! I cannot imagine that! I only have 1! You are AMAZING!!!

Goofy's is my favorite and I go every year for my birthday!!!
BUT when I went last week, I was suprised at the small number of characters that came by our table. The usual Chip, Dale, and Goofy came by and we took the usual pic w/ Pluto, but Baloo was also there and didn't come by. Those 4 (not including Pluto) were the only characters walking around! I knew that they usually have a female character walking around too, but didn't see anyone. Then as we left, they swapped Baloo out w/ Alice. I'd say that that was my least favorite time there, but good thing it wasn't my b-day or I would've been cranky.

I have had that happen over the years. Actually, I have experienced one extreme to the other in character interaction at Goofy's, and everything in between. There have been times where there were so many characters coming by - one after another after another - that I couldn't get a bite of food because I had to constantly be on alert. I know a lot of folks would prefer that because they are paying for the character mingling, but I am paying for an equal mix of good food and some character interaction, so I like to be able to eat. I don't like not being able to relax for a few minutes and eat because there's another critter pr princess coming 'round the bend!! I like a good balance. THEN, I have also had times where Goofy's was very slow and only a couple of characters were making the rounds. One time, in September 2007, literally not one single character came to our table. They must have been having a character staff meeting that day or something. Goofy just ran through the restaurant and waved at everybody, and there were no visits from anyone at all! Still, it is my favorite place to eat and I continued to go back.

But most of the time, the average trip to Goofy's that falls in the middle of the two extremes includes the visits from Goofy, Chip, Dale, Baloo and whichever Princesses, etc. are on the rotation that day, and then Pluto usually is at the front. I can personally deal with that number of characters. And I also don't mind if the same handful of characters come back to see us again and again because they interact and gesture and draw on the table and act crazy when they have more time to do it and fewer customers to visit. Other folks may prefer an all-out onslaught of characters, and sometimes it is that way, and still others prefer 'quality time' with fewer characters. Also, the busier it is in terms of number of customers, the more characters there tends to be.

But even if Goofy's is having a character staff meeting or (whatever it was in 9/07) again, where there are absolutely NO characters visiting us at all, I would still be content with the food. For other folks, if Goofy just ran through the restaurant and waved at everybody quickly, I think there would be a mutiny and mass exodus of the customers!!

Thank you, I found that I was really good at being a mom, so when my 3 sons got to be 12, 14, & 16 we decided to take in foster kids. We've adopted 2 & are finalizing the adoption of twins this week!!!! So that's how I ended up with 7. :rotfl: Now my kids ages range from twin girls (age 21mths), 3 yr old girl, 7 yr old boy, 19, 22, & 23yr old boys. Only the 23 yr old doesn't live at home...... so a bit hectic at times, but always fun!! :dance3:
