To Ride or Not to Ride....That is the question!!!! :confused3

My 3yr old is old enough and tall enough to ride this ride in December when we go.

I think he will be up for it as he appears to be pretty fearless, so far...Knock on Wood....Knock...Knock....

My DH thinks it might be too jerky for him.

I would love for everyone's thoughts on this ride for a 3yr old who have taken their own young chid on it.

Thanks in advance

We went in 2004 when my son was not quite 3. He loved this ride and also rode Big Thunder Mt. and test Track in Epcot. If he's rough and tumble like you say, he'll be fine...it's not too "jerky".

Does anyone know why I'm getting all this garbaly gook at the bottom of my posts? I just returned to the board last night after planning a trip in June 04.

My DD rode this for the first time at 3 and loved it...Mommy wasn't so brave that year...but I rode it with her the following 2 years!

This ride is one of our family's favorite rides! My youngest rode it first when he was just 4 years old and looooooved it. :cool1:

I don't' think it's jerky! It's exciting and over too quickly, but I wouldn't say jerky.

All 3 of our boys rode it when they were 2. They all loved it. :thumbsup2

My daughter had just about to turn 3 the first time she rode it. She's usually scared of rides, but LOVED this. She remebers it as her first rollercoaster. We have to ride it at least twice each trip.

It's really short ride and if you sit in one of the middle cars, it's not scary at all. It almost isn't worth it to wait in a long line for this ride.

We took my TINY 3 year old on it for the first time in September. He was 3 1/2 and just BARELY made the height requirement. They measured him every time. Anyway, he loved loved loved it!! We probably rode it 20 times on that trip, and 40 more when we went back last month! Be warned: He will want to ride it multiple times in a row. Get there at 10am sharp!!

Thanks ranthony.

He is always climbing on things and flipping himself over things and basically standing on his head and always so full of energy, so I didn;t have any rea fears.

DH is a little protective of him, though.

I think we will just have him watch it and if he wants to try it, we will. If not, we won;t be one of those parents who make their kids cries by forcing them on a ride.

Ony 282 more days!!!

We wil keep that in mind. We had to go on carousel 3 times last year in a row...
:rotfl:

DS (just turning 5) has been riding this since I think he was maybe 2 1/2 (he is tall) -LOVES IT!!! Even the grandmas have gone on it with us. It's a go for the smaller set as well as the older set.

Thanks Brytoryn.

Definitely no problems with this mommy riding this and all other roller coasters. I love thrill rides and hopes DS follows in mine and DH's footsteps.

BTW....Your Daughter is adorable!!!

To everyone else who replied to my questions, Thanks a bunch!!!:thumbsup2

My son rode it at 2. He loved it!

Thanks Mouse House Mama......

I think I might put on the planning dvd when it gets close and see if the Barnstormer is on it and let him watch it and see what his reaction is.

My DD#2 is on the smallish side and not very adventuresome. Last summer when she had just turned 3 she rode the kids' roller coaster at the county fair with her sister (who is a daredevil) and HATED it. I was afraid that we'd forever ruined her with that stinkin' dragon ride. It was really jerky though, and there were no lovable characters in sight. ;) She's seen Barnstormer on the DVD and is looking forward to riding it when we go next month.

She might still be apprehensive when she's standing right beside Barnstormer, but I think that since she gets to ride with one of her parents that it will be just fine. I hope so, at least, although I might live to regret that--I might be riding it over and over while DH and other DD get to do all the Mountains. LOL

DD rode it for the first time in September 2006 when she was finally tall enough (just shy of 3). She loved it and we rode it probably at least 6 times. We went this past January and I think she even loved it more. We rode it 12 times without getting off during the Pirate & Princess party AND it was like 40 degrees that night if that tells you how much she liked it. The CM at the exit gave us "frequent flier" cards.

My ds rode it last year - he was 2 months away from turning three.

We ended up riding it 11 times during our trip (yes 11, that's not a typo). I would say the first 7 times we rode I would put my arm behind his back just to cushion him and help with the jerks of the ride. After a few times he knew what to expect and I didn't have to do that anymore. It was a bit uncomfy for me to do that, but I wanted him to enjoy the experience 100%! He still talks about that ride! That is one of the highlights of our vacation :)

It is a roller coaster - small, but still fast, and there are some parts that seem a bit jerky. But overall it is a great ride. It is really a lot of fun and my young son LOVES it! I hope you get to try it with yours and he has a blast on it! Good~Luck!

Oh, my daughter will get to ride it for the first time for our upcoming trip (our kids are a year apart). She cried last year when she couldn't ride. I am hoping she enjoys it too.

Thanks Traci.

Wow...11 times.....sounds like something my DS would want to do if he ends up liking it.

Young kids tend to want to do the same thing over and over again, as I am sure you know...:rotfl:

For example, when my DS was 2, he watched the Toy Story movie two times a day for 6 months straight.....

Thank God, he has moved on to new movies and shows, so I can keep my sanity....even though DH says it is impossible to keep something you don't already have...:lmao:

When is your trip? You will have to let me know how your daugher likes it.

Thanks

My DD had just turned 2 last year when we went and she loved it!

I will NEVER forget that ride. It was my youngest DD's first rollercoaster. She had just turned 2 a few weeks before we went to WDW. She did great. Her face was just hilarious. She really liked it.
