Hello,

We're planning a 5 night stay at DL in late April. We are looking into doing the 3 day dine in the magic meal plan, but I can't find ANY info on this plan anywhere. Help!

I am super familiar with the differences in meal packages at WDW (just from research) but can't find much on this plan..

Any input would be greatly appreciated. :lovestruc

Oh and just for information sake, the trip will be Myself, My boyfriend and our will be 4 year old daughter.

The plan for 3 days, is running $415.00, is it worth it?!

Thanks so much! :thumbsup2

Hardly anyone uses the DL dining plan because it kind of stinks. It doesn't work at all the same way that the WDW one works. You get Disney $ to spend on food in the park. Just like cash, except you don't get any change. If you buy popcorn for $3 and you hand over a $5 disney $, you get no change in return.

Wish they would offer a plan similar to WDW at DL.

Ohh, well thats just ridiculous! LOL! I was thinking it was kind of high anyhow. Considering my DD is only 4 and doesn't eat a ton, we'd probably save money just buying meals.

Thanks so much for your response. :)

That probably the way to go since a light eating child can share with an adult. Assuming the adult wants things DD does.

Hi,
Travelling with 4 year olds is sometimes challenging...I know it was with my daughter when she was that age! Wow, was she a picky eater! It killed us to spend good money and then have her leave most, if not of her meal, only to be hungry 45 minutes later.
My advice to you is this, feed the young one outside the park at Denny's, IHOP or one of the other basic and fairly reasonably priced places for breakfast at least. IHOP used to have a "Kid's eat free Tuesday afternoons", I'm not sure if they still do, but it's worth checking out.
Captain Kidd's across from the Maingate has a decent all-you-can-eat buffet as well.
The simple fact is, the food is terribly overpriced in the Parks. Don't get me wrong, I'm a dyed in the wool Disney fan and have two trips planned before June next year, but...$6.00 for a hot dog?!
Don't buy a Dining Plan. Use your food budget more wisely and spend the money you save on tangible souveniers (which aren't cheap either).

Have a wonderful time!

Another no for me on the DL dining plan. I actully priced the difference in cost between plan and no plan to see if there was a discount in getting the vouchers, there's not. If you pay for $100 in vouchers, your total price goes up accordingly. Then if you get the character breakfast, they base the price of that breakfast on the more expensive option. So if you eat at a lower priced breakfast buffet with the characters you'll lose money.

Thanks for all the replies! We will just pay for meals. :) I think we've decided that unless some sort of good deal comes along we will have to stay offsite.. :( So eating breakfast and dinners off site would be a logical choice financially and would be convenient. :)

There is a McDonald's on Harbor Blvd up the street past the Carousel Hotel, big 2 story glass front hotel. We eat breakfast there before going to the park, then too, you could always carry in fast food for the Kiddo in one of those bag that keep soda's cold, they keep things warm too.

Plus Disney does have Kids meals!!

offsite is great at DLR!! There are many places walking distance or that have inexpensive shuttles and cost about half of what the Disney hotels do.

The dining plan at DL is much different the WDWs and not really worth it.

We like to pre-pay as much as possible and just buy Disney Gift cards for our expected dining amounts.

We also tend to each lunch offsite many of our days since there is plenty of places 5-15 minutes walking distance of DL.
