DAY 12 - 26th December 2005 Boxing Day
Weather Report: Sunny 66 degF.
Boxing Day in MGM
We got up around 8am and after a slow start headed over to MGM Studios via the good old Friendship boat.

Caught in the act!
On the instruction of Nicola and Jade we got FPs for The Little Mermaid and then headed over to the Backlot Tour.
We didn't have to wait long before we were lining up to watch the special effect show (MTB boat and a lucky guest getting soaked
). It was then announced that for technical reason they couldn't do the full show, so all we got to see was a few explosions and a bit of fire

We then had to wait to get on the train. Once on we set off round the usual areas and into the Catastraphy Canyon. After surviving that we drove past the prop graveyard and back to the start. Apart from the canyon this tour is really a waste of space and desperately needs an overhaul!
It's sad to see all the old movie props just rotting and rusting away

After the tour we had headed over to the ABC place to have brunch.
Dining Review
Me - Fish and Chips. Not as nice as the fish I had earlier in the holiday.
Julie and the girls - Burger and Fries. Burgers didn't look very nice.
Drinks - Cokes
Total cost - $36.02
After lunch we headed over to the Indiana Jones Stunt Show. We just managed to squeeze in.
We then headed back to the Little Mermaid. We had gone past our FP window, but the CM still let us in OK
It was getting near parade time when we came out, so we headed across to get a good view. Not my favourite parade this one.

As we wanted to do things we had never done before we headed for the One Man's Dream attraction.
It was very interesting looking at all the original Disney films, plans, models etc. and learning about Walt's history.
By the time we came out it was approaching our ADR time at Hollywood and Vine. We were seated within 5 mins. of arriving - right in front of the buffet
Dining Review:
All - Adult buffet. Very nice buffet with a good choice of salad and hot dishes.
Drinks - cokes all round.
Total cost - $81.77 (with DDE discount)
After dinner we headed back to the hotel for a quick freshen up and to get some warmer clothes for the evening.
It was decided that we would hire a Surrey bike for from the Boardwalk and I was stupid enough to agree!
We walked over to the Boardwalk from the Dolphin and found the hire shop. After paying, leaving a room key as deposit and getting some instructions we were off. I sat in the front with Jade and steered, while Julie and Nicola sat in the back - not doing a lot!
We tried out best to run down as many people as possible on the Boardwalk, but my steering was not too good and we kept missing. As we got to the end of the Boardwalk we began to get the hang of the machine and it was quite pleasant - until we got to the bridge over the International Gateway! I'm sure Nicola and Julie in the back were not peddling!
With great effort we made it up the hill. It took me the whole length of the Yacht/Beach Club path to recover before getting to the next bridge near the Swan/Dolphin. This one was even worse than the first!
But, we made it without getting off to push
So for some insane reason we decided to go round the loop again!
We managed the first bridge again, but that second bridge was a bridge too far! We had to give in and get off and push!
The girls wanted to go round a third time, but after some gentle persuasion
with my foot it was decided to call it a night!
I managed to limp back to the room. Thank heaven for those elevators - it's a long way to the 11th floor!
