Goofy?

Hi Everyone
I know this is a silly question, but I'm hoping you can settle a discussion between a friend and myself. My friend is trying to tell me that Goofy is not a dog and I'm saying he most definitely is.
So whats your opinion?

I heard somewhere that Goofy's original name was "Dippy Dog" or "Dippy Dawg". Yes, Goofy is a personified dog.

I still say he is a COW because he talks...
Pluto is a dog, he walks on all fours and doesn't talk!

Plus why was Goofy set up with Clarabelle Cow in
old movies? Who is Max's mom anyway?

I just did an internet search on the history of Disney. Goofy is a dog.

His original name was Dippy Dawg, and later he was called the Goof. No doubt about it, toss him some Kibbles & Bits and you'll have a friend for life.

The character whom we know today as Goofy first appeared six decades ago in Mickey's Revue (1932). Then a bit player (as an obnoxious "laugher" in a barnyard audience), he sported whiskers and square spectacles and was called Dippy Dawg.
