Goofy ?

Yes this certainly is a GOOFY question.

What is Goofy? Is he a dog or a wolf?

We had always thought dog but were wondering if that is the case why he talks yet Pluto does not. Why would Pluto be a pet but Goofy a regular person (So to Speak).

Any input on this would be appreciated as we have actually wondered about this over the years.

In 1934 Goofy was first introduced as Dippy Dawg. So both pluto and goofy are dogs, one is just more goofy then the other.

Goofy is a dog. Also, Pluto is Mickey's dog and Goofy is one of Mickey's best friends, along with Donald Duck.

This question was answered by my 11 year old son. He LOVES the Dis and Goofy is one of his favorite characters.

Its good to be able to add to my pile of knowledge But am still confused why Goofy is a talking dog then and Pluto a barking dog. Seems to me all dogs should bark or talk.

My nephew (5yo) says it is because Pluto is still a puppy and hasn't learned to talk yet Makes sence to me.

I !!LOVE!! the Pluto is a puppy answer. Kids do have a solution for everything!

When it comes to Disney, you just have to accept the magic in whatever form it comes. I mean, does it make "sense" in the first place, that a talking mouse even HAS a pet dog? Magic is Magic, and that's just how it works.

(Or, maybe Pluto CAN talk and chooses not to. I mean a "dog's life" is pretty sweet. Naps, feedings, playing, and generally stress-free living. -Its kinda like the way DH "can't" ever find anything in the fridge We laugh about it, but it always winds up w/ me making him a snack.)

well, yes, it would make sense if Pluto was Mickey's "pet", well, then, he wouldn't 'talk', right??? And Goofy and Mickey both talk because, well, they are the "humans"......oh, goodness, time to get off this roller coaster....
