Goofy wrist band question

Quick question for those who have done Goofy in the past.

Is the wrist band included in your packet or does it get put on your wrist at the expo? I will be down in WDW on Thursday and plan to hit the expo early and pick up my packet and the one for my DH. He will not be there until late Friday night-- after the expo closes. We both plan on doing Goofy and I was going to pick up the packets for both of us. Will this be a problem for him getting his Goofy stuff? For the coast to coast I remember they insisted on putting the wrist band directly on the participant-- is Goofy the same? If yes, has anyone tried to get the band pre-race before the half on Sat?

Wish I could answer the question for you, Jen, but I can only answer the easy part--they do put the wristband on you at the Expo. I would think they would have a system in place for those who can't be at the expo, though, akin to being able to pick up someone else's packet. I just don't know what it is, and I'm curious as well.

Thanks for the replies. Clearly I'm trying to distract myself from worrying about running with details like this. I'm sure they have some system in place we'll just have to figure it out.

I think that if you have his signed release, a copy of his DL and a note from him (signed) directing them to relase the packet to you you can pick up his packet and wrist band. Though I would confirm this in an email to EMMI before it gets too late and you have time to redo travel if required. They really do not like to announce that this is a possibility as they really want to witness the band going on the runner trying to get Goofy. Also, as a Goofy runner, I wnat this kind of security to keep from cheapening the medal

I'm not sure how it works for Goofy, but can tell you and my and Wendy's experience in DL. The plan was for me to pick up her stuff at the expo (after providing me with all the necessary documentation). Since she was going for the c2c medal she emailed Disney to be sure that I would be able to get her c2c wristband. She got an email back stating that it wouldn't be a problem for a friend to do the pickup. I took a copy of that email, along with all the paperwork to the expo. Guess what? I couldn't get the wristband, even after showing the email specifically giving permission! I was able to get everything else, but not that wristband. Fortunately Wendy was able to get to the expo just before it closed to pick it up herself. I've got to think it probably works the same way in WDW.

If it is handled like the last 2 years, Butch will have to get the wristband put on by race officials Saturday morning. I don't remember if it was at the Goofy tent or if it was at runner relations.

Thanks Chester. I wrote to the Disney sports people but they have yet to give me a real reply other thatn "you can pick up a packet for him if you have a signed waiver and copy of photo ID". They completely ignored my real question

So there is some kind of tent before the race in the start area? I never noticed last year.

You know I forgot about the tent on Saturday.

Great catch. There is a tent in the gathering area for last miunute issues like lost chips (d-bands), no safety pins, and Goofy Wrist band issues. I had a friend loose his on a ride one year. They replaced it that morning for him. He will need his ID.

Disney just officially answered me with the same info Chester provided. The wristband must be picked up in person but there will be a prerace tent-- you just need to bring your ID (or copy) to the Goofy tent before the 1/2.
