Hey Everyone. We are leaving for our first trip to Disney in 5 days!!!!! I am planning to make Goody bags for my kids (12 girl, 9 boy) to help keep them entertained in the automobile and to make their trip a little more magical. Any ideas for thinkgs to put in the bags? I have been looking for autograph books but have not found any yet. I have decks of cards for them and disposable cameras for each. I saw the link for the disney journals and will print them each one of those...any additional ideas would be very welcomed. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hmmm... how about:
  • fat pens (you may even be able to find Disney character ones) from the dollar store
  • a roll of quarters and a roll of pennies for the penny press machines
  • a couple of pins each (and maybe a lanyard) so that they can pin trade (check out www.cheappins.com, ebay or www.disneystore.com)
  • Some games to play on the roadtrip Printable Car Games
  • Glow in the dark necklaces/jewelry
  • Some Disney Dollars
  • Snacks for the parks
  • a refillable water bottle (love Brita bottles)
  • a fannypack
  • disposable ponchos (although we're partial to the Mickey ones!)
  • a good book
  • a blank pad of paper and some colored pencils or markers
  • books on tape/cd and a tape player or cd player
  • Some Disney Music for the ride
  • A Map so they can track your progress (you can print out your route on MapQuest)

Have fun!

My MIL put the coolest thing in my "stocking" this Christmas. It was a travel Bingo game. It is a little game board with pictures that you see while traveling (like a cow, train, restaurant). When you see something that is on your gameboard you slide back the cover on it's spot. (the cover is see through). I unfortunately haven't played it because my DS is only 3, but I know it will help on trips to see Granny & Grandpa (who live 3.5 hrs away).

Or, you could just print some out. Here is a cool site http://www.momsminivan.com/ for some travel ideas.

I know this is over-the-top for a goody bag, and I have no idea what your budget is, but......we took our 4 kids (ages 3-7) to WDW via Amtrak from NJ. We got a portable DVD player to keep them occupied on the 20 hr train ride. Someone else from the boards suggested this and it was a great idea. We're going back in December via Amtrak again and I'm going to buy another DVD player so there's one player per seat.

We also got Disney sticker books for them, but our kids are younger than yours. We had Disney $$$, but I held them. Disposable camers are a great idea. I would also pack the Birnbaum Books - Kids and Adult - so they can see what the resort has to offer.

Have a wonderful time!!!!

I love making goodie bags for my kids, although it gets harder as they get older. For your daughter you could add a new pair of sunglasses, lip balm, etc. For both I would add word finds, you can make them at www.discoveryschool.com if you would like to personalize them. We always take Disney trivia cards, uno, and other travel games. Both kids have their own cd players so I will sometimes get them a new cd or rent books on cd at the library.

Additions to the goodie bags that can used at WDW sunblock, visors, disney themed tatoos (I have found these at Walmart in the stationary section), mini first aid kits with character band aids, small party toys.

how about mini magna doodle boards (the pen is attatched so it can't get lost.) I saw ones that will clip on a fanny or backpack at Target for $5. each. They can draw in the car and maybe play hang man or something while they wait in all the lines.

I don't know if the sale is still going on, but the disney store had there little toys 4/$10.00.
Last year when my family and I went I bought little disney bookbags on clearance and filled them with all kinds of disney stuff and I even threw in a couple pieces of candy. It worked out so well keeping them occupied on the plane!! Oh yeah, I also put coloring books(disney of course) and crayons.

I just bought a couple of Mazes books at Amazon and sticker books, Disney Princess for the girl and Bionicle for the boy, also Finding Nemo and Monsters Inc. Also got them the Birbaums Disney for Kids by Kids (something like that). Its easy reading and its from the kids perspective. I also got the autograph books on ebay, from Kristen Collections. I didn't bid on them I just bought them for 9.99 plus shipping which was still cheaper than $22 elsewhere online. Just plug in Disney Character Autograph Book and it should come up. If you have a hard time finding them let me know (email or pm me) and I will look up her email address, she seems to have a stock of them. Have a wonderful trip!

You could get them those car travel games, postcards so that they can start to write to their family and friends telling them about going to Disney and how excited they are-then they won't have to deal with writing when they are there, but those people will feel special.

We will be traveling with 3 kids, 2 of them are the same age as yours. We will definitely be packing Gameboys (with headphones!), a portable DVD player, and each a new book of their choosing. We also have a couple of hand held games (hangman, othello) that they weren't very interested in when they received them as gifts, but I put them away JUST for this vacation. We have a 12+ hour drive, so I want to be prepared. Of course, lots of snacks too!
