Goodies For Family

Hi Everyone,

This is my first post here, so I hope it works. I am planning our first trip to WDW. My husband and I are going there with our daughter, who will be 1 in November, my brother, who is 22, my mom and my dad. Last Christmas we all went to Chicago and my dad had a really detailed plan for us, as well as several goodies. Since I'm in charge of planning this trip, I want to make sure it's even better. LOL. Anyway, I was hoping for some ideas of things that I could put in a gift pack . I was thinking about an inexpensive disney watch, a poncho, and some other things that don't cost too much. Any ideas? If anyone knows where I can find these types of things I would appreciate some help.

What about matching t-shirts, disney dollars, disposable camara,
snacks for the park, or caps for everyone. Don't forget to make some PS for a few specail meals too.

Welcome to the DIS - highly addictive!

Here are a few things I am getting together for our next trip (Christmas themed) which I was going to have delivered to each families room (4 baskets):
• Mickey shaped gingerbread cookies and tins of cocoa mix
• Christmas plush animals for each of the children
• Snow globe
• Custom autograph book with pens (details on how to put together below)
• Disney mugs
• Monorail magnet
• Ornaments engraved with each families name

Autograph book - only true Disney nuts need read!

What you will need:
1. A mini photo album (Disney themed is good) with sheets for holding photos
2. A sheaf of white card stock paper
3. A metal ruler, cutting board and exacto knife (or scissors but this takes a lot longer)
4. Hole punch
5. A fat marker for signatures (again, Disney themed is good!) and a box of crayons
6. Ribbon to attach pen to book

Steps:
1. Measure the pages in the photo album and use a document maker on your computer to create the pages - mine were 4x5 and I used quark express.
2. Find a list online of all the characters avalable to meet in the park - email me and I can send you one if you like.
3. Search for colouring pages of each of the charcters and place one on each page with their name in small below. Email me if you are unable to find anyone and I can email you these as well. This step may take some time
4. Be sure to leave enough room beside each character for the character to sign their name. Try to fit two autograph pages to a sheet of paper - you should end up with about 100 plus characters so 60 sheets should do. You may want to leave some blank sheets for other characters you forgot - we missed a page for Penguin from Mary Poppins.
5. Cut out sheets and hole punch and place in book - alphabetically is good so you can find each one quickly when you are there. Place a photo page holder between every two pages so you can put pics of your little prince or princess with each character.
6. Attach fat marker with ribbon and Bob's your uncle!
7. Present on way down to Florida to your favourite Disney prince(es) or princess(es) on plane ride with lovely box of new crayons and you may get half an hour of peace from "Are we there yet?" as they colour in their favourite characters.
8. The characters you meet will LOVE this book - it really makes for some wonderful character interaction and terrific signatures. The two mice from cinderella had a little playful quarrel because Suzy took up all of Perla's room. I wanted my girl to have this for her first trip so that she could watch herself grow with the characters - we should have everyone by the time she is ten! This year we got Tigger, Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, Timon, Raffiki, Queen of Hearts, Genie, Penguin, Suzy, Perla and Goofy. It was a lot of work but worth every moment and so fun! Caution - this might make some disney addicts drive themselves right into the ground in a tizzy of anticipation!

How about laminated copies of touring plans and tips for the parks. I followed the ones from The Passporter last week and did almost everything at Magic Kingdom in one day. It was VERY helpful!

I also like the idea of Disney dollars, Brita bottles, autograph books or snacks for the parks. We used all of those things everyday.

Poohkinandpiglet: I just read your thread on the passporter last week on the touring plans. Where can I get a look at that? We are going to WDW at Christmas and I would like any help on tourning plans that you can get me. Thanks.

ROBIN - WELCOME TO DIS! I'm sure we'll be seeing you a lot btwn now & your trip!!

I start a big box (case of diapers, I'm sure you have plenty of them with a 1 yr old!!) to store my stuff so it is all in one place!

Ponchos - you can find at WalMart, KMart, Target - etc, usuallyin the camping section. You can find them in bulk (since you have your whole family going) on eBay or other sites - type in rain poncho in search engine.

Glow sticks - to wear at night - orientaltrading.com has them in bulk or dollar stores usually carry them (might be out of season now). Or eBay.

Brita fill & go water bottles - although it may not be as hot when you are there. This is a water bottle with a filtration so you can fill up at the drinking fountain and it will taste like bottled water. I found mine at WalMart in the filter section (with all the Brita stuff).

Pins & lanyards - Get bulk cheapish pins from eBay. Lanyards can be made by buying name badge necklaces from office supply stores (Staples, Office Max) & you can customize your info & put it in everyones lanyard (like Robin's Annual Xmas trip - or whatever on one side & your local info on the other in case lost, return to...)

T-shirts - Disney store probably has lots of short sleeved stuff on clearance so you can get a cheap shirt you may never wear outside of Disney!!

Sunscreen - Even if it is Dec it will still be sunny & you can get a sunburn.

I vote for Brita bottles (a must) and a small travel pack of wipes for everyone. Or the fun, glittery antiseptic hand cleaner from Bath and Body. They make some that foam now, and my dd7 loves them. Hard candies to put in their fanny packs.
