Goodbye PS, hello ADR

WDW Dining has decided the description "priority seating" is too confusing for their guests. Starting now and until June 1st, the term Advanced Dining Arrangements will be used. Come June 1st, the system, formerly known as Priority Seating, will be renamed Advanced Dining Reservations.

The system does NOT change, just the name. I hope the word "reservations" does not confuse the WDW guests even more as people will still get the first available table for their party size once they check in at a restaurant's podium.

So, do I change the name of my site from PS Calculator to ADR Calculator? :p

Happy Planning!

Hi Scott!
First let me say, "thank you, thank you, thank you" :goodvibes , for your most wonderful ps calculator site!!! I have already printed out our preferences for our upcoming trip in Aug., and we`re just waiting for the 90 day mark, :hourglass , to start calling.
To try to answer your question, imho, I think I`m just going to leave the printout, for this trip, the way it is, rather than redo the whole thing for it to say ADR instead of ps calculator.
BUT , having said that, since that is what your site is ALL ABOUT, if its going to be a definate, perminant change, than the site should be: Advanced Dining Reservations Caculator, i think.
Personally I don`t care what it `s name is, I am sooo grateful for all your hard work, to let all of us "Planners" have some organization!!!! :cloud9:
Thank you again!

Thanks for the info.

I like the change. Now I can just say "I'd like to make some reservations for dining" instead of "PSs....I mean priority seatings." ;)

Oh great...in the legal world, ADR is Alternative Dispute Resolution (e.g. mediation and arbitration). Now the term will make me think of work!

In the hotel world, it means Average Daily Rate - the higher the better! :teeth:

Semantics... I tell ya! Why do they have the intermediary term... ADA (which is American Disabilitis Act actually!)

Whatever the term, it still means that you will need to wait for the next available table! (I remember a 40 min wait at Ohana for our PS's)

Hope that they make that clear as 'reservations' may make people think that they have a reservation like in the world outside of WDW.

Scott, love your calculator.. don't care what you call it... lol...

O/T noticed your Les Habitant (Canadiens) avitar. So did you miss hockey as much as I did this year. We should be starting playoffs right about now! :sad2:

Scott, Thank you for the info and thank you for providing such a great site.

Geez they think the term "priority seating" is confusing people, wait til they change it to something with the word "reservation" in it! I can't tell you how many people I have heard complaining "well WE have a priority seating" and assuming it is the same as a reservation. I just want to say "yes people, we ALL have a priority seating" clearly they have no clue what that means. Now with the term reservation being used they are going to have some serious complainers.

I agree with this. It was confusing enough before for some people and using the word "reservation" will just make it even worse.

Thanks for the heads up. Its gonna take a while to get the ps out of my system, lol.

I'm wondering why they are changing the name twice. First Advanced Dining Arrangements (which I actually like) and then a month and a half later Advanced Dining Reservations. What gives? Scott, do you have any insider info on this? I think the use of the word 'reservations' is going to cause them even more headaches than 'priority seating'.

PS I love your site, it's a great planning tool!

Man I hope adding the name reservation to the title doesn't start battles at the check-in desk. I don't know why PS was hard to understand but that's just me.....oh well..

Many thanks for the info Scottwdw, very helpful......

Is this giving anyone else a headache :confused3

Thanks, Scott, for sharing the news with us. :)

I agree that the new name will cause more confusion with the word "reservation" in the title. And Scott's PS Calculator is a lot catchier than Scott's ADR Calculator, don't you think? ;)

LOL, I immediately thought of that as well. I thought the title of the thread was indicating that someone was so upset over not getting CRT breakfast that it was going to result in a major legal conflict with Disney ending in ADR...
