Now's almost the time to say goodbye to Mr Mikey E.

The end of the reign of King Michael of Eisner is upon us. He had a good ride and how he will be remembered by historians is not yet known. So, let's thank him for the good things he did (keep Disney from being gobbled up, presiding over some wonderful movies like Lion King, Beauty & the Beast, Aladdin, etc and putting Matt Q. in charge of DLR) and forget all of his shortcomings (Treasure Planet, Atlantis, the new Tomorrowland, DCA and Paul Pressler).

I agree that Eisner did some good but some of the things that you don't like, I personally do. I know. We are all have different feelings and opinions. My personal opinion is I am glad that Eisner is leaving. I am hoping the new guy ( I'm sorry but I forget his name) will actually have a love for Disney. Eisner seems more like he was in it for the money or the glory of running Disney. I would love to see Disney get back to its roots and hopefully that will happen soon.

By the way, not only my kids but myself as well, we all enjoyed Atlantis.

I also look forward to someone who seems more in tune with the true spirit of Disney. I appreciate some of what he has done, but..

I understand the antagonism towards Eisner by some, but I suspect were it not for him Disneyland may well not exist today, or at least, be a poor shadow of what we see today.

Not so long ago I remember reading horror stories in Australia about how Disneyland was getting old and rundown, overrrun with packs of teenagers at night, and without any decent new rides for years. Everyone I knew came back telling me Knotts or Universal was much better - Disneyland was no longer a must do for anyone visiting LA (and many began avoiding it altogether - it was the old out of date fun park. Much loved by loacls, but just not cutting it when compared against its rivals).

In addition, prior to his arrival, when was the last time Disney had a decent kids movie? They'd just about got out of musicals and cartoons and were shifting all their resources into movies for adults only. before Eisner, many in Disney considered cartoons had had their day.

What he did was to make Disney profitable, make great movies and make the Park a success again. Some of the things he did to achieve this were perhaps not popular, and I'm sure mistakes were made, but the overall impact was to restore Disney as a profitable and popular brand through both its parks and movies.

As a recent first time visitor to Disneyland where I had the best holiday of my life, and for the movies my kids adore, I thank him.

who's to say he's really gone - he hand picked his successor - he's moved from center stage, possibly to take on the role of Gepetto ;)
