Goodbye Main Street Bakery....

Take a chill pill. Nothing about that response was rude towards you.

You need to read more then one post to see why I said what I said and I am not expecting you to get into this mess. OP knows what I am talking about and it is all that matter.

What makes you think I didn't? Defensiveness is not necessary when no one attacked you and if you have an issue take it up with a moderator.

This is the letter people are being asked to sign:

Petition Letter
Do not replace the Main Street Bakery with a Starbucks

Main Street USA is the gateway to the Walt Disney Park. It is designed evoke Walt Disney's roots in a small Midwestern town. To take the bakery and change it into a Starbucks reeks of corporate greed and destroys the small town atmosphere.

[Your name]

Not only have contracts been signed and it's a done deal, I can't imagine Disney will listen to people who can't even get the name of the park right.
The reeks of corporate greed part is killing me. Disney is a corporation, and they have entered into sponsorships with other corporations since the park opened. This is not anything new, Disney has always had ties to large corporations to provide food and drinks in the parks.

I think they meant "Walt Disney Parks" because there's a Starbucks going in in Epcot as well. Either way it doesn't matter because if they wanted a general public opinion on this they'd have asked for one.

They didn't need to ask for one - people were coming out of the woodwork with how nasty the coffee tasted for years.

Now, Disney found a way that profits them and gives people what they want and people are still unhappy.

Can't please everyone.

Next year when the dust has settled, MSB remains whimsical, and the good visitors of MK are happily guzzling their non-Nescafe coffee while attempting to stay in the park until that 1AM EMH closure, we will all look back at this thread and laugh.

Never forget, Starbucksgate 2012.

That was sort of my point. They knew people hated the coffee so a public poll wasn't necessarily. Why people think their opinion in a petition is going to matter now is beyond me.

Then you missed all the personal attacks, rudeness and sarcasm somehow and not only towards me. I am not taking anything to moderators, not my style, I just done with all this mess. Whoever wants to run another circle, more then welcome to do so but I have a choice not to do so. I am sure it is OK.

This same kind of outrage happened when they changed the princess dresses. Same complaints, 'they're classic. Why make them more Barbie?' ... 'it's awful.' blah blah blah.

Cinderella's new look debuts in NYC and everyone's on the praise train.

I suspect the same will happen here :thumbsup2

Of course it will, mostly because no one has seen any artwork or plans for the building. It's easier to get up in arms instead of accepting the change.:goodvibes

:lmao: #firstworldproblems
Ha, I went over to Twitter and typed in first world problems. Lol, they are hilarious. And Starbucks is in there quite a bit.:rotfl2:

Someone needs to come up with a FWPs Twitter feed that is WDW related. There would be tons of material.

Wow. Ok. you said
SB location is what it will be according to article, in black in white, problem is some will call it MSB till wrecking ball

the question is why do you think the new place won't be called Main Street Bakery? I would personally be very surprised if it isn't.

Well this discussion may be moot.

News of a rodent infestation may ruin the franchise.

It all started with a mouse.

So you do continue run in circles even when I said I am done, that is wow, ok then, you are on your own.

Look. Here's what's going to happen.

Main Street Bakery is not changing names. It will continue to be called the Main Street Bakery and it will appear as such on maps etc. Expect tasteful Starbucks signage that blends in with the building.

The inside will see quite a bit of an overhaul, but will "feel" more or less the same. Expect a more open feel with a streamlined ordering process - potentially even self-serve kiosks if Disney can figure out a system that is foolproof. Lines are long at the Bakery as it stands because the setup is terrible. This is going to be fixed.

Starbucks coffee beverages will be served along with Starbucks food items alongside "Disney favorites." There is no finalized food menu. Disney/Starbucks doesn't want "competing items" on display. For example, Starbucks version of a sticky bun and Disney's version of a Cinnamon Roll. Bottom line here is what Disney thinks is going to be able to sell more. Realize that for every one person that has an attachment to the Disney Cinnamon Roll, there are X number more people that love a Starbucks ________. I would be surprised if the Ice Cream Sandwich survives. This is a guess, but you may see it available next door at the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor or potentially the Confectionery. It will remain available at Sleepy Hollow.

There is really nothing to be upset about. This is going to be an improvement in every regard.

So you do continue run in circles even when I said I am done, that is wow, ok then, you are on your own.

so if the place is called MSB, you will refuse to call it that and mock those of us that call it MSB til wrecking ball (whatever that means)?

A voice of reason with a lot of cred.

SB location is what it will be according to article, in black in white, problem is some will call it MSB till wrecking ball or look of NYC SB and you are one of them. You called me on specific example, here I am, ready and willing and you try to wiggle from specific example to vague definition which we are not agree on to begin with. So, as I said earlier it was a one side deal. You were trying to make me admit something, accusing of not answering direct questions, for some reason it is that important to you, but you are the one who is actually looking for exit clause. How ironic. What was the point of it anyway. Notice, I never cared about making anyone to admit anything, kind of childish imo, it was all your idea and so exit clause.:confused3

And yet you try to deflect once again.

I said I would admit I was wrong if it turns out to be a Starbucks location (that is what you said it was going to be), all I asked is if you would admit you were wrong if it doesn't become a Starbucks location.

I don't think there is room for logic with some people. They just can't look beyond their immediate emotional reaction. There is t any thought process going on. They'll deal or not. Whatever. Their lives must be pretty sweet if their worst concern is whethe Disney changes decorations in a ff restaurant.

I am not responding to you personally but since you brought it up I quote your post. Please do not feel as if it directed towards you, I have nothing against you, it is general comment.

Just because someone has an opinion, sarcasm and rude comments are acceptable, since when? Why when presenting a point the whole garbage, collective stereotype about opposite side is dropped on a person. Brunette popped in just few last pages and it is easy to follow her few posts, does she deserve this mess? I popped a bit earlier with many posts and repeated my position many, many times, including that I actually like SB and do not support hysteria of canceling trips, did it matter? I got just the same mess on my head just because this is how some people are. If someone do not like your opinion, which I and Brunette are entitled to, we, personally will be taken apart. Instead of staying on topic, personal attacks, rudeness and sarcasm is in place and it is actually against Dis rules. So yes, we can stay off the thread but why should we? We have opinion and open for discussion. If someone cannot keep it on adult level and according to rules maybe they are the ones who should stay away from thread. After all, it is discussion board, place for conversation and not fights to take place.

I have no problem with you stating your opinion, nothing wrong with that. You have been adament that your interpretation of the situation is correct and many of us have disagreed with you. No one has attacked you but rather simply asked if you would be willing to admit you are wrong if it turns out that way, that MSB is being refurbished not closed and reopened under teh Starbucks banner.

I'm really quite baffled at why anyone is singling out Starbucks for any negative comments in this regard. They are better than the current coffee provider (Nestle), especially as corporate citizens and in terms of customer appreciation of their product, the two criteria that should matter. Furthermore, Starbucks is #73 this year in the list of the best employers. Disney doesn't even make the list. In that regard, Starbucks is gracing Disney with its sponsorship, with Disney's reputation enhanced by Starbucks' participation. So can anyone posting negative comments on this thread try to put into words why they prefer Nestles to Starbucks?
