Goodbye El Pirata Y El Perico-Hello Tortuga Tavern

In twelve trips over 4 years - it has never been open. They can change menus and names all they want to - I will still never get to see the place open.

Are there any dates that is is open. I am leaving for the world in 13 days  and was wondering if it will be open then?

"Seasonal" in this case means whatever Disney wants it to mean. If it is open now, that does not mean it is open permanently. There is no list of dates to tell if it's going to be open when you're there or not.

The odds are better on this place being open if it is a high attendance time, but they don't open it exclusively at those times.

And disgusting.

By the way, I read that the new incarnation of the place was open daily from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., at least since the name change. Not true?

When was the name change official? I came home last Wed and the name was still the same and it was closed. I made it a point to go check.

Have heard that they don't have a regular walkaround appearance by Captain Jack for just this reason. It was attempted at Disneyland and is no longer done because of grown women getting too enthusiastic the performers who played him.

I believe he's available on a limited basis at some of the special parties and on the cruise. But you won't find him out and around the park. He does do the pirate tutorial, but there's apparently a reason why he runs like heck out of there when the show is over.

My family and I were at disneyland when the character was introduced and the handlers had their hands full trying to contain the women. They would hang all over him and frankly some of the piictrues taken were almost x rated. On Castaway Cay, they manage to keep the situation under control as well as on the boats. I think the handlers have been trained how to handle any over zealous fans. I was lucky enough to meet Jack during a mother's day brunch at epcot a few years back and I can tell you that it was definitely a memborable experience. He was extrememly flirtatious to me and my daughter. Lot's of fun but I can see where problems could develope.
