My son always rode in a stroller, but this year he will be old enough to walk around the parks. What are the best walking shoes for a 6 year old? What brands have you used that worked well? I like New Balance, but there are so many styles that I don't know what to choose!

My kids just wear there regular tennis shoes...

We like new balance and any style should be fine. Just buy early enough to wear them in good. One caution if he will want to play in the sprinkers, take some water shoes or remove his, then dry his feet well before putting them back on. MY DN's got blisters from wet shoes and socks.

DD wears the sports sandals from Land's End. They've got great traction on the soles and keep her feet cooler than sneakers. She wore them walking around last summer when she was 6 and had no problems. And trust me when I tell you - if there was the slightest pain we would have known! We did still get a stroller though, she didn't sit in too much but the option was there and it was great for our backpack. :)

I would have to say whatever your son usually wears and is comfy in is best to bring - maybe sandels and sneakers as well. Like others have said break them in at home and make sure they are comfy, nothing worse than new shoes at Disney.

OT a bit, but don't completely rule out a stroller, at 6 my dd needed one for those long evenings like fireworks nights. Epcot WS was our favorite evening destination and by 5ish she was to tired to walk but could still very much enjoy the evening in a stroller. We would always start out the day walking esp at MK and MGM but by late afternoon or evening dd always started to fade and a rental stroller was well worth the $$ IMHO.

WDW is alot of walking and it kept our dd's happy for the trip. By 7-8ish they didn't need one even at night so you may be ok if you take a mid day rest - but again don't rule it out completely!!

Have Fun
