Mom called a little while ago and she took my dad to the hospital at 2:30 this morning with breathing difficulties. He's been in and out of his dr's office this past week undergoing some tests, so this isn't unexpected, but still unsettling. They suspect the breathing/lung issues are a result of a heart related blockage and have admitted him. They will put him on the schedule to get a catherization (sp?) this afternoon. He has a lot of additional health issues that make him a high risk patient (diabetic, high cholesteral, overweight) so I am praying he won't have to have by-pass surgery and that the blockages are small and can be handled by the less invasive procedures.

If you have a minute, I would so appreciate a prayer on his behalf.

soccerchick, good vibes and well wishes are coming your way for you, your dad and your family.

My FIL and uncle both had bypass surgeries last year. My uncle had a quad and my FIL had a quintuple bypass. Both did very well and are feeling better than ever.

Here's hoping all goes well for your dad tomorrow and in the coming days. Let us know how the surgery goes.

Just a quick update: He came through the surgery fine, but his breathing has been slow to get to the benchmarks they want. He's still on a breathing tube. His other stats are all good. Hopefully he will still move to the "Step Down" unit by this afternoon.

My mom is trying to be strong, but the stress is getting to her.
