Good stop over point on the way home from WDW?

Hi all

We were wondering where we should stop on the way from Disney to NYC in October. On the way down, we're stopping in Florence SC. My husband wants to leave at noon the day of check out and drive about 8 hours. Do any of you experience drivers out there know where that might put us on the map?
