Good Steak dinners?

We're recently back from out latest trip to Disney and are already planning the next one. We typically stay offsite and eat about half our meals offsite as well. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good steak restaurant? Some place where we can get a good steak and baked potato at a reasonable (not cheap, but not over the top either) price?

Thanks!
Lori

Mannys Chophouse at Haines City has some of the best steaks we have ever eaten and really well priced too.
:)

Hi, we need to try Manny's next winter when we are down for the 3 months...thanks...
From what I have heard, Charlie's high recommendations have been met with major disappointment...very pricey and not so good...

Best steak I had was at House of Blues one night...thought I would give it a go and it had a light cheese stuffing in the filet and it was great.

There is standard fare of Outback in several locations.

Heard mixed reviews on Black Angus for a bargain steak.

Heard good things about JW Kools on 192 west of Disney right by Old Lake Wilson and Formosa Gardens Blvd. It is on the north side of 192.

good luck...Ted

Outback, Longhorn & Lonestar have always been good. Cost around $15-$18 but most come with side dish of sald or soup as well

Don't bother with Key W. Kools on 192. It used to be great and has really gone down hill.

For a good steak go to: The Palm Restaurant; Shula's in the Dolphin; Yachtsman; Ruth's Chris; Morton's.

I can't believe I'm saying this, because we are ONSITE fanatics! (love the filet at Lecellier, also Maya Grill at Coronado). we stayed a couple nights in Kissimmee (cause we were researching housing) and we really had a great steak at Ponderosa!!! ok, the ambience wasn't great, but for $10.99 we each had a top sirloin and it was done to perfection! I like mine medium rare (I hate wasting a good steak). It came with a baked potato AND the WHOLE buffet! with LOTS of good stuff! Nebo likes his Medium, and he loved his. It was on 192. (you could spend a little more for t-bones,but I really enjoyed the top sirloin, really) and the buffet was great.

addendum: understand, you are standing in line to order; then you get your drinks and can start on the buffet whilst awaiting your steak and potato. but, for the budget minded, it was great.

Sorry to hear about Kool's...they come and they go as I am sure the staff turnover is these middle priced restaurants is unbelievable...

The steak derby goes on!!!

Glad to hear about Ponderosa...have done it a few times on the run and never had a bad experience...and very friendly folks there.

As I get older, it really is gets hard for me to spend 40 dollars and up for an 8-10 ounce steak dinner. I grew up in Iowa where we bought a whole quarter of beef for $120 that included 8-10 steaks plus all the other cuts and a ton of hamburger.

Peace...Ted

Thanks for your replies, everyone! Looks like I have quite a few to choose from. :) I've never been to Yachtsman, but it's gotten quite a few good reviews on the DIS Restaurant board. We had been happy with Longhorn in the past for an inexpensive but good steak dinner, but after two bad meals there I think we're crossing them off the list for future trips.

Thanks again for your help!

I too would have suggested the Yachtsman, but you said off site & reasonably priced. The Yachtsman is niether.

If you are looking for on site & pricey, Shula's is also hard to beat. :smokin:

Sorry I didn't see the "off site" request.

I do think Yachtsman is reasonable for a good steak.

We don't like Shula's, it has the chain restaurant feel.
Also I think people often say Shula's because they consider a large portion to be better quality. Shula's has huge portion but huge portions of "ok" is still just ok. We always look for quality not quantity.

Actually now that I re-read the OP, I don't think they did say off site.

Please don't get me wrong... We eat at the Yachtsman on every trip to WDW (3-4 times a year).
That said, we can't leave the restaurant without spending at least $150 for just two people.

We also enjoy Shulas. Maybe we've just had good luck with it, but we have always enjoyed our steak there. :smokin:

Here's another - considerably pricier than the low ends like Ponderosa or even Outback but a really quality steak:

http://www.delfriscosorlando.com/

We just ate there for the first time last weekend and everything - service, sides, drinks - were excellent. I'd put it at the level of Charlies Steak House but slightly lower cost. Highly recommended.

We ate at Barney's Steak House one night and it was wonderful. There were 9 of us in the party and everyone raved about what they ordered. Service was great too!:thumbsup2

Here's another vote for the Ponderosa, if you want a good steak without all the hoop-la this is a good place, there was 5 of us and all 5 enjoyed our meal and steaks . :thumbsup2

Another vote for Manny's ....locals love this place and the wait time to get in might put you off a bit...but it is sooooo worth the wait...T-bone porterhouse steak...uhhhmmmm..num..num..num....don't even think about it...just order it. My husband and I will drive an hour to get there and happily wait another hour to be seated...they have a new one in Lake Wales now too.....I'm still begging for one in Lakeland.... my husband said the only time he has ever had a better steak was in Texas. The only other steak that I have ever had that impressed me was at the Hilltop in Saugus, MA and Manny's is a 1000 times better...

We like the salad that they mix at the table...for sides stick to baked sweet or regular potatoes or french fries...the other sides pale in comparison to the meat...just gotta keep it simple.

As far as value...DH and I paid for a meal for 2 one night at Sonny's(BBQ) and paid $43....the next night we ate at Manny's and spent $47 ...I am still mad that Sonny's had the nerve to charge that much for their meal when I got so much more bang for my buck at Manny's

Here's another vote for the Ponderosa,
I'm not a huge fan of the steak, but I will say they do a mean baked potato!
Afterall, baked potatoes, along with steak, were the OP's requirements..

Out of all the restaurants I've ate at in my life, Outback Steakhouse and Ponderosa have the best BP's. :thumbsup2

I also vote for Manny's in Haines City...excellent food and good prices.

My husband swears by the Kissimmee Steak Co on 192 near the turnpike going towards St Cloud. He says, expensive but well worth it.
