I am a new member but have been reading everyones tips on the Disney Cruise Line. My family and I will be in Orlando this summer and I thought we might go over to Port Canaveral and watch the Wonder leave port on July 24. Does anyone know if there is a good spot to just sit and watch it leave?? Hopefully we will be on a Disney cruise in 2004. Got to save our money. We have been to Disney World numerous times. Thanks for any helpful information.

I have never been, but have read, and seen pictures of, the waterfront restaurant called Grills. It looks to be the perfect place to see the ship go by!

Sorry, I don't have any links handy. But I know that there are pictures posted by Dis'ers. And, Grills does have a great web site.

Thanks!! I'll do some research on those spots and see what I can find out. Hope you have a wonderful trip!!

We just returned from the Wonder. When we left port there were TONS of people at Grills waving at us. I hope they weren't planning on having dinner there also.

:) :) Thanks...sounds like Grills is the place to be. Guess we need to get there early to get a good spot!

The other good spot is Jetty Park, which is right where the ship channel meets the ocean. There is a fishing pier in the channel. Spectators are permitted out there. It was from this pier that I took the photos which I have in my signature line at the bottom of my post.

If you don't want to eat, there is a grassy area just south of Grill's next to the boat ramp. We frequently go there just to watch the ship leave. The Fantasy usually leaves before the Wonder, so you can see both. I think the Voyager of the Seas is last. Seeing the Fantasy followed by the Wonder is quite a contrast. The Fantasy to me looks like a "people barge" and the Wonder is elegant.

If you wanted to make a beach day of the visit, you could go farther east past Grills to the end of the channel to Jetty Park, which is right on the Atlantic. When the ship's come by, you can see them from the edge of the channel or even out on the fishing pier. There is a minimal entrance charge to the park.
