Good spot for Pixar Play Parade

I am trying to figure out what would be a good spot to watch this parade. We will be in the SS Rustworthy Play area right before. Are there any good spots around that area of the park?

I don't really have much of an answer but I never had much of problem just stopping and watching. We saw one while we were in front of the "train stores". That seemed like a good place. It was the Block Party one and they stopped there to do stuff. We saw some of the current parade standing kind of behind the Rustworthy play area. Probably not the best spot but I was the only who wanted to see it so I just sort of made us stop there. Is that play area still open? I thought I heard they were closing it, but I could be wrong. With all the construction going on, I'm not really sure what to expect in DCA this trip.

We lucked out ...

We were sitting at the wine area enjoying some libations (can't remember the name) - you know, by the Blue Sky Cellar. We didn't know where to go either - but once the pre-parade started, we simply when down the walkway (from the parade route to the Blue Sky Cellar) and were able to plop down right at the entry. Nobody was sitting there, thinking that the walkway had to be clear. There were CMs there and everything - a perfectly "legal" place to sit. Because there is not an adjacent walkway, this area is not considered a thoroughfare that is to remain clear.

This tip will keep you from having to stake out a place well in advance. Go have a drink and stroll on up as soon as the parade starts!

The first time we saw the Pixar Parade, it was kind of an accident. It was our first time ever being at DCA so we didn't even know what time the parade started. We had just eaten at Pacific Wharf and were trying to get out of the park using the bridge and we got a really great view of the parade, so we stopped to watch. Even though the parade had already started, we got a really good view with no one in front of us, and we were right above the water so we could see all of the ducks.

With all of the walls up for construction, the viewing areas for the parade have been cut considerably. You should be able to find a spot right in front of the SS Rustworthy, but you might have to stake your spot a little earlier than you would in the past.

We watched from in front of the Orange Stinger, directly across from the Rustworthy last Friday. We got our spot maybe a half hour before the parade came through, but lots walked up last minute and got decent spots.

The benches near Wine Country Trattoria are a great spot for watching the parade.
