Good songs to request from a mariachi band?

Tonight we are going out with our neighbors - a couple we barely know. They asked us to go to a local Mexican reataurant. Tonight they are having a mariachi band. So we are going. I figured why not? They are our neighbors and are nearly our age. So what would be some good songs to request of the mariachi band? They usually roam from table to table and last time I did not know a song to request. Should we tip them????

We have a local Mexican restaurant where Mariachis go on the weekend. But, they do charge a set price per song. It's $15 for every song they play.. might want to ask them prior to making your request.

Cielito Lindo Huasteco

You probably know this tune. They sing, "Aye-yi-yi-yi..." When I was a kid this song would play on a cartoon and the guy would sing Aye-yi-yi-yi. I am the Frito Bandito!"

My mom always requests "Una Paloma Blanca" (I'm just a bird in the sky...) It was a hit song in the 70s by George Baker, but has become a very popular mariachi song.
