Looking to update my son's luggage options and he wants a larger suitcase that can be used as a carry on. Right now we have a PB Kids smaller one and was curious of recommendations out there. Can not decide if hardside/softside and 20 vs 21 inch as 20 inch can be used internationally. Any thoughts or recommendations.

Whatever you get, make sure it has 4 wheels! You wouldn't think it would
make much difference, but those two extra wheels are amazing. I personally would choose a plain colored bag that will last a while and he can use for years to come. My samsonite for work travel was a rockstar. Since luggage requirements are getting smaller and smaller for carryons I would go with a 20in.

I bought this suitcase for my kids and LOVE it! It's not a carry on, but they make a smaller version that may fit as a carry on

One of the best things about the Ebags branded luggage is that it has a lifetime warranty. On our way back from Mexico a piece came loose somehow and poked through to the outside of the suitcase. I called Ebags and they sent me a brand new suitcase and told me to keep the old one! I really want to buy more pieces so that my dh has one for himself also.

I'd just make sure it has wheels. Backpack, traditional carry-on, whatever. Also consider whether he'll want to stash it in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of him. That will help determine size and build. I'd just get a plain one that he won't be bothered by taking as he ages. But the wheels are key because my kids don't like hauling a bunch on their shoulders.

We ended up getting a piece of samsonite Fiero 20 inch spinner on closeout. They love LL Bean duffles as checked bags. We use them all the time with all 3 boys and we have looked at the Ebags ones also as we love the packing cubes from there. We love trying different luggage! I think I have so many different bags!

I bought my 8 year old grandson an eBags TLC 22" Expandable Carry-On (cost around $150 after discounts) which he used this summer when we took him to Disneyland, then for a week long stay at a beach house. It was more than large enough to hold everything he needed and he could wheel it himself. Excellent quality; should last him many years.
