I need your help!!! My DD10 needs another new backpack. This will be her 3rd backpack since school started in August. The first backpack we bought at Justice for Girls. It was the black/white zebra print with the pink peace sign. Paid around $30 and the strap broke with a month. 2nd backpack was a cheapo and is coming undone and the zipper is quirky. I thought I would get her a new one for Christmas. What is the best backpack you have purchased for the money???? I have looked on LLBean and Land's End. I like some on LLBean but the color is not available until Jan 2010. TIA:worship:

L.L. Bean is awesome. I have carry that backpack every where and made really good.

Jansport is good too.

We've bought several LL Bean ones & they've been great. DS used one for 3 years & it was still in great shape. My neice had an LL Bean one a couple years back that didn't last through the year & LL Bean replaced it with no problems.

20 years ago I bought a floral tapestry backpack from LL Bean that I absolutly love. I've used it at least several times a week over the years and it still looks almost brand new - the only place I can see any wear is on the leather buckles. I have also gotten so many compliments on it.

I grew up using Jansports every day for school for years...and they were great.
Cheaper than LL Bean and Land's End...I think? You can find good sales, too.

My mom always gave us the choice of color, etc. but always made us get a back with a leather bottom because it wore well. Not gonna lie, I'm 26 and still have Jansports from middle school...

My ds has a Calpak and my dd has a Fox(skater brand) Check out ebags-I'm sure they have good deals right now.

I agree with the LLBean vote! Love them! All three of my kiddos are hard on back packs and these hold up so well. Hurts a little to spend that much but well worth it!:thumbsup2

I too still have my Jansports from ... well actually dating back from elementary school! I just liked them a lot so I had new colors a few times.
I know they sell them at Sports Authority and most likely other sporting goods stores in your area.

Jansport. I've had both Jansport and LLBean and for the price, Jansport cannot be beat. One place it look is in a shoe store, like Shoe Show? if you have them near you. I've gotten my bags there for like 20 dollars and they have lasted for years!

Another vote for Jansport. In school, my aunt would always buy us cheapo walmart bags for like 10$, and would have to get a new one every year, sometimes twice.
In 7th grade (96-97) she bought me my first and only Jansport that I used for the rest of school. And occasionally after that.

Kari is also extremely hard on everything she uses... I don't get how she does it, but she can tear things to shredds. Even her socks get holes in the toes and heels after a few months. But she also has a Jansport from high school (class of 01), and uses it every day when she goes to work. She's good at stuffing it to the max and making it extremly heavy.

You just can't go wrong with it. I've never seen a bad jansport.

The LLBean is worth the wait. If you can find a discount one, clearance to make due until the one you really want comes out.
With LL Bean they will guarantee for life. I have had them replace a bag that was no longer available, they have done free repairs....When I sent the one in for repair, they called to say they could repair or I could replace. But they did not have that healthy back style any longer and offered a replacement style. I choose the repair as I liked the mesh outer area, beach print.

I had a friend that had her bad from college days many years ago need a zipper and they replaced the bag!
Can;t go wrong for sure.

My son has been using the same Jansport backpack since the 6th grade, and he is now in college. I've more than gotten my money out of that purchase. :)

They have a lifetime warranty...you just have to pay a few bucks to ship it back. We sent back DS's one time after he ripped the area around the zipper.

I've washed his several times as well, although they don't recommend it. I just toss it in on the gentle cycle by itself, and let it air dry.

You can usually find some good prices (especially on the discontinued styles/colors) on Ebags.com.

Last time I answered this question, I got some  from people but I don't get paying $20-$30 every year for a new backpack. All my kids get to pick out a Duluth pack when they start school (around $100). They last forever. I have one that is going on 25 years. They also pack them for trips (of course to WDW) and they can hold everything for a weekend trip.

There is a Jansport outlet in Appleton, WI I have been to and they looked nice. I wouldn't pay full price for one though. They seem to be consistently on sale anywhere from 40-60% off there.

We own army green, maroon, black, blue and spruce green

My son has been using the same LLBean backpack for 10 years and it still looks great! I am suprised it held up that long. Before the LLBean I bought him one every year.
