We are in the process of purchasing a DVC resale contract. We are interested in Animal Kingdom, but aren’t sure what we should offer. We already have a DVC at Aulani, so we can purchase add-on through disney at $186 a point. The ones I’ve seen have been going for about $135 a point, which seems a bit overpriced to me. We were looking to purchase 150-200 points. Thoughts?

In the past year resale prices have soared and have gotten much closer to the actually direct price sold by DVC. This is making buying direct a little more attractive than it has in the past, but you will have to evaluate that yourself. $135 to $125 is the going rate right now for AKV on most resale broker websites, but the prices are negotiable.

Make sure you do your research, at least a week or more of reading here on Disboards before you buy.

Keep an eye on the ROFR thread and bid just above what Disney is buying back at. Don’t be afraid to negotiate and walk away from a potential sale if the seller won’t move, as there is always another seller around the corner.

Going through a SSR resale purchase right now and that’s what worked for me. Took a few tries with different brokers but after about 3 offers I found the right one.

I’m in the process of ROFR. I am paying 119 for 180 points. Hopefully it goes through. 117 is the highest I’ve seen them take recently. So I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I think I got a good deal because the 2021 points were stripped and 40 points from 2022 had been used… witch I am perfectly fine with. You can find better deals on stripped contracts if you are okay with that. I wish I would have bought a year ago. They were going for 109. Think I even saw a couple under 100.

$109 is exactly what I got my AKV for in Jan 2020 on a 100pt contract. Been a nice jump from those prices as of late.

Yes I got lucky I paid 95 dollars for 185 point last year tried to find more but it so much more now. bought a Hilton Head instead for 70 per point for a 50 point contract in the same use year and they work out great together

Thanks for that info. I keep looking up resale sites and see AKL going for 140-160 range but when I looked up the average price people are paying it said much closer to 120. We are not ready yet but didn't want to offend someone if i go to low - I needed to read your words!

Great suggestion. I spent about 3 months on this board (April, May, June) of 2020. Got great info on reputable brokers and as of now, I have 5 contracts. I'm not buying right now because each time I make an offer of 135-140 on an Oct AKV of 50--60 points, the seller is not interested. I'm not paying 160-161 for AKV resale. The firm request of $160 and another near firm of $160 are solid in their demands. Those contracts are still there, too. I don't begrudge anyone for wanting their price, but it can't come from me. I think I was initiated in buying with AKV at 100, SSR passing at 89-98, OWK at 101, ( all for small contracts of 100 or less) etc. It ruined it for me. LOL
