We have upgraded to Poly LV concierge for our April trip, and would like to know if anybody has any advice for room requests. Third floor, or 1st floor? Close to the lounge, or further out?

Thanks!!

I am also interested in the answer to this question for our July trip. I thought I would like a third floor room so we could fall asleep with the drapes open to view the Castle. On the first floor, I would be afraid of Peeping Toms. But I heard that the 3rd floor is smoking optional. Have any non-smokers stayed in a thrid floor room? Is the smoke smell obvious? I am a recently reformed smoker (4 months) and I try to stay away from anything that might tempt me to start up again. Thanks!

Someone had posted on another thread that they had just returned from Poly GV concierge, and the 3rd floor is now non-smoking since the rehab.

Hope that is correct!:wave2:

We also struggled with the 1st floor/3rd floor decision. In the end, we requested a 3rd floor room and I am so happy we did. DH and I are NOT smokers and the smell of smoke really bothers me. We did not smell any smoke in our room. It was so magical to keep the blinds open all night and be able to see the castle all night long.

We had room 3501, considered to be one of the best in the house. It was perfect for us. We went out our door and walked directly into the door that brought you in the concierge lounge. I know the lounge is on the 2nd floor but you can enter a seating area from the 3rd floor and walk down a couple of stairs and be there. Our room was as close to the lounge as you can get from the 3rd floor. In the evening, we would head down to the lounge, grab a drink and some desserts and go back up and eat on our balcony. There was nothing better.

The view was unbelievable. We were constantly giggling whenever we looked out and saw the castle across the lagoon. We saved and went all out for our anniversary in December and I was thrilled we did. The only down side was that we went without DD and DS and we now feel so guilty they didn't get a chance to experience it we are trying to figure out how to get back there again! :p

If you have any questions about it, ask away! It was a dream of mine since I was a little girl to stay at the Polynesian - it was fantastic to have it be as good as I dreamt! I am sure that no matter what room you get you will have a wonderful time. It is so wonderful to stay LV Concierge - just enjoy it all!

Hi, jen!!:wave2:

Thanks for the info - it's wonderful you had such a great trip!!! We have stayed at the Poly but this is our first concierge stay - can't wait!!

Did you make your room request on your res. or did you ask the concierge staff? It sounds like the third floor is what we want!!

Awesome Jen!

We are going in a few weeks LVC @ Poly. :jumping1:
How did you get that room? Fax request? Mail? Concierge staff/planner? CRO?

Thanks, I can't wait. It would be a HUGE plus to be able to walk out of the room and down a few stairs for a quick nibble for my three sons. (ages 12,10,8) They eat at the starngest times and NEVER when we eat!

Also, what's some approx walking distance to GCH, Beach, Pool?

Thanks in advance,

cortegro

The only thing that we requested was 3rd floor. We had noted on the form we received from the Concierge staff that it was our anniversary and I don't know if that helped us get such an incredible room.

If you did not get the form from the concierge staff, e-mail them your request. It never hurts to ask. I just wrote that if it was possible, we would like to have a 3rd floor room with a magical view of the castle. I tried to be very nice in asking and thanked them in advance. I always believe that not too pushy and very polite is the way to go.

Our room was in the perfect location - right out the door to the lounge, out the door and down the steps to the pool (the volcano pool is right next door to the Hawaii building - walking distance = 20 steps), and a short and beautiful walk to the main building (walking distance = 1 minute). I did think that it was a bit of a walk to the transportation center (walking distance = a couple of minutes) - but we did it several times and it wasn't a big deal. If the kids had been with, this would have been a bit of a challenge for my youngest one (4) if he was tired.

Feel free to ask anything else. We had nothing but perfect service and a perfect room. Again - you guys will have a perfect time!

Excellent advice!::yes::

These boards make me HAPPY!!!

<sigh> What am I saying???

DISNEY MAKES ME HAPPY!!!

I'm sending an email right now to Aida and asking if we can request the third floor. The idea of sleeping with the drapes open and viewing the castle is sooooo awesome.

THANKS FOR THE ADVISE!!!

You are all making me jealous with this talk!!!!!!!!!.....

We are going back down in August and will be splitting between the Poly and the Boardwalk....I have stayed on both the 3rd floor and the first floor...I agree with everything that has been said about the third floor...you do get beautiful views...however, I have to say that one of the best things is being able to open your door and walk right out onto the beach overlooking the magic kingdom and cindy's castle...esp late at night when you feel like you're all alone and it's all yours...

maybe you should try doing both...stay on the first floor for a few days and then switch up to the third...just a thought...lol...

Thanks for all the good advice. Unfortunately , we have NOT been contacted by the concierge staff at the poly yet.

We did get contacted by a wonderful CM at the Beach Club where we are splitting the last few days. She got us all our PS's and lots of good idaes and a room requst was put in with her. (actually it was her suggestion of which room would be best/closest to lounge/elevators..etc...)

I guess I should dig up an e-mail addy for Poly concierge and see if I get a response. Over on Tikiman's website/boards I noticed that the Poly concierge is innundated with requests right now....

I also do not want to be pushy...I know it will be magical nonetheless..

Thanks again,

Hello all,

We were at the Poly in January and stay LV concierge. We had a 3rd floor room that was in our opinion, perfect (3505), but as I looked from the balcony I believe all rooms on the 3rd floor had that same GREAT view, except for, I think it was 3508. A large palm tree may have been impeding the view from that room.
As far as the smoking is concerned, we never smelled any smoke the entire time.
Have fun! Enjoy your trip!

I just received information this a.m. from Polynesian Island Planning that the smoking optional rooms are still located on the 3rd floor! The CM indicated, in writing, these rooms are away from the entrance to the loft area and elevator and nearer the east entrance/exit (TTC side) of Hawaii.

Since 1/2 of that third floor (or more depending upon requests for "smoking") is smoking optional, that means fewer rooms for "nonsmoking" on that floor. If you really want a patio/balcony, I'd be sure to request those things as first and second priority. As far as the smoke smell goes--I've not noticed it in the hallway UNLESS someone smoking opens a door immediately after lighting one up.

Thanks, everyone, for your great input!! Sounds like most of the rooms are great - here's hoping each and every one of you have a magical vacation!!! :wizard:

I want you to know that because of this thread I was convinced to change our lagoon view room to a CONCIERGE lagoon view room!! :p I just called this morning and made the change (and paid the additional money! LOL), to our reservations :teeth:

SeaSpray'

You will love everything about the Hawaii building, view of the castle, water parade, the Tiki torches at night, the accessibility of the Monorail either GCH or the TTC, etc.
You will not go wrong.
Have a Great time !!!!!!!!!!

Well I was there in January and we had a great 1st floor room. It was 1504. Steps away from the front door, staff lounge, and pool and only one flight of stairs from concierge. I loved the first floor because with 4 adults there was plenty of room on the patio for each of us to sit. Also we were only steps from the beach and the wonderful hammocks.

I too had requested 1st floor near room 1505 (Tikiman's suggestion). I had the Island planning office note the first floor and I faxed a room request specifically with the near 1505 request. I have a feeling the fax request may have worked because when we arrived (9am saturday Jan 24.) we were told our room was already ready and we were led straight there before even having to check-in.

I loved the first floor for the easy access in and out of the building and not having the hassel with stairs or wait for the elevator.

We'll be arriving via limo from Port Canaveral on the morning that we're going to be checking in. When we pull up in front of the resort, how do we know where to go to check in for concierge as opposed to the regular check in?? I'd like my DH to be surprised at the very last moment :)

SeaSpray -

Hi! I did the same thing - we had AP rates for 4 days at AKL, pool view. Then, after reading everyone's posts on the "Concierge Bug" thread, I started trying for concierge at the AP rate. Since our trip is the week before Easter, no way!! We eventually got 2 days at the Poly, GV concierge (rack rate!) :faint: Again, after reading posts about how great LVC is at the Hawaii bldg., and that there would be construction on the "quiet pool" until mid-April, I called and got LVC!!:teeth:

Disney should be ecstatic about these boards!! :happy1:
