Good Point & Shoot digital camera?

I have a Canon D20 digital SLR. and I love it - but I would like a little(sizewise) point & shoot - the problem is - I am very use to pushing the shutter button and it taking the picture then - not refocusing or having a delay. Is there sucha P&S? I heard the Canon ELPHs are pretty quick. I have heard a lot about Nikon. I have always been a Canon girl though so I don't know much about Nikon. I would like one before we go on our trip in May. I have read reviews for a lot of cameras but haven't found one that has good quality pics with good shutter speed.
What do you have? How is the Shutter speed? Quality of pictures?

This one is not much smaller than the base of a SLR camera but we have the Cannon S5 1S and we LOVE it. The delay is so short. Much shorter in any camera we have found. We have done side-by-side comparisons with other cameras and none can come close to this one. The features are great, too. I swim and this one can take great shots of me in action using the sport shot (my avatar is one a friend took first time using the camera). The quality of photos is excellent as well. I highly recommend this camera.

OK. Just looked at the camera again....YOU CAN just put it on the point and shoot setting....there is an automatic, movie and PROGRAM MODE!

We like the Sony Cybershot. Easy to use and pitures come out nice.

Check out the Lumix ZS3. It's super small (fits in my back pocket), very quick, has amazing images and HD video as a bonus! I carry my ZS3 with me 24/7, and have my SLR for when I am shooting work images, but rely on my ZS3 most of the time for fun.
