Customers of DH announced today they are going to Disney in July, they have a villa booked in Kissamee. They got talking about food ...... understandable really as DH owns a cafe LOl!! ......and DH told them about 180 day ADRs. After they'd picked themselves up off the floor they created a MDE account and started looking at TS ADR times, well needless to say they are bit thin on the ground.

What I'd like to do is give them a list of really good places they can go too off property but as I've never ventured out of Disney to eat I need to turn to my trusty Diser friends. Can you please let me know the places I should be telling them about, they are 8 adults and they are going for 16 nights.

TIA :goodvibes

We tried the Cheesecake factory in October and it really is as nice as everybody says.

Our favourites which will be on our list for July:

Cheescake Factory
Texas Roadhouse
Logan's Roadhouse
Manny's
Sweet Tomato
Orlando Alehouse
Chilis
Santa Fe Cattle Co
Applebees
Market St Café
Bahama Breeze
Cracker Barrel

:cloud9:

We like IHOP for breakfast and Olive Garden, Longhorn & Chillis for dinner :goodvibes

Agree with all the above and also Ruby Tuesday for the best burgers and salad bar :)

We love

Longhornes (great steaks) but very popular and a couple of times last year couldn't get a table.

Cheesecake Factory (wish there was one close to Bonnet Creek)

Toojays (for breakfast)

Sweet Tomatoes (great value, best chocolate brownies, always sneak a couple onto my bag to take home, I know its wrong!)

Lone Star (more great steak, my son loves their ribs and we always eat too much of their bread)

We love cheese cake facotory, Bahamas breeze, smokey bones and Perkins pancake place. Margharitavile at universal is also a firm favourite

Do you have to pay the $18 resort parking fee though?
Just like Cinderella2006, there's no parking fee to pay so long as your eating, you'll get issued with a parking ticket at the gate, make sure you present the ticket to your waiter when paying the bill, it gets stamped and when leaving just hand it to the person manning the gate. If we had to start paying the $18 plus tax parking fee then sadly we wouldn't be going back to the Villa de Flora.

Just wondered are any of these within walking distance from DTD?

For example I put sweet tomatoes on my iPad and walking distance from DTD was only 1.7 totally doable but what I was concerned about was crossing the roads.

We won't have a car:rolleyes:

sweet tomatoes is in the crossroads strip mall.

The mall is across the street from the hotel plaza entrance of walt disney world.

the restaurant itself is all the way at the end of the mall, so once you've made it across the street, you still would have quite a walk to the restaurant.
(and this is a strip mall - so everything is outside - there is no indoor area like a regular mall)

theoretically, it's doable from DTD, however unless you're there from november to about march or april, you'll die from the heat and sun.

i live where it's hotter than orlando and even though i'm very used to extreme heat and sun, there is no way i'd EVER walk from DTD to sweet tomatoes in the summer. (it's a recipe for landing yourself in the hospital if not the morgue)

Your post makes me smile as we have walked it often with children and we are from Scotland

We didnt last time Wayne, they validated the ticket for us, that was over a year ago though. We had a lovely meal :confused3

Good to know, Thanks.

There are plenty of places to eat around Crossroads, not just Sweet Toms but I am with Beth and not something we would do. We have enough walking around parks in Florida. It certainly is walkable but not for us.

If they've got kids, Uno Chicago is worth a visit.

Kids can make their own pizzas which was one of the highlights for my two. The adult food was also nice and reasonably priced (2 dishes for $12).

Cheesecake factory, Giordano's, TGI and Olive Garden were also good.

wow!!!!! you deserve an award of some kind!!! seriously!!!
where do you walk from? OKW? SRR? DTD?

do you slather on a bottle of sunscreen each?
take a few liters of water each for the trek?

it's true i've seen people trudging along past the hotel plaza hotels, clearly on their way to crossroads, but i can't imagine doing it.

and we do go hiking in the summer. On much longer hikes than that. In the desert. But we start before dawn and are finished before noon when we plop ourselves down in the shade.

I can't imagine walking to crossroads in the summer, during the day.
90 degrees/100% humidity. geez.
you must have ice running in your veins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
