I am looking for restaruant ideas for my brother in law who is vegetarian. Any suggestions whould be great. TIA.

WDW is great for vegetarians. We were there for seven days in March and my husband had given up meat for lent. Every restaurant we ate at had at least one vegetarian selection. Check out the menus at allears.net. There's lots of good information about vegetarian dining at WDW on that site. Have fun!

I have good friends who are a whole family of vegetarians and their favorite place at WDW is Boma.

I'm another vegetarian whose favorite restaurant is Boma.

Wolfgang puck express has an awesome veggie sandwich.

And if you want to eat at a restaurant and allearsnet.com doesn't show a veg meal on the menu, you can call the restaurant a couple days before you go and request one and they'll make something for you.

They're very veg friendly.

I'm a vegetarian and my favorite is Boma. As another poster mentioned, every restaurant has a vegetarian selection and the chef's have always been more than happy to accomodate special requests if the vegetarian selection doesn't appeal to you.

I think that the best CS restaurants for vegetarians are Columbia Harbour House and Tangerine Cafe. CHH has vegetarian chili and a very tasty hummus sandwich. Tangerine Cafe has a delicious vegetarian platter.

You've nailed a few of my favorites right there.

As the others have mentioned, WDW has changed significantly over the years. They cater to all sorts of dietary requests, including vegetarian. You can eat in any restaurant on property and find at least one option.

As Aunt Kelly mentioned, check out all ears net and look up the menus. Although they do change rather frequently, you will see a vegetarian option on most of them.

You can also call ahead and speak to the chef. But this means knowing exactly where and when you are eating.

Absolutely! Tangerine Cafe and Columbia Harbour House are my favorite CS restaurants. :)

I'm not sure if my link to the book works - here is the title and author.

Vegetarian Walt Disney World and Greater Orlando, 2nd: The Essential Guide for the Health-Conscious Traveler (Paperback)
by Susan Shumaker, Than Saffel

I'm gonna chime in and say not to bother w/ the veg. walt disney world & greater orlando book. I got the book in 2002, and even then it was a bit out dated. I can't even imagine how outdated it is now, since I've been 2x since 2002, and the menus/restaurants have changed so much in the last 2 times (aug. 2003, and june 2005). I guess there is some useful info in there but not much, not worth the price of the book.

For my fav. places:

Boma definately! They cater to vegetarians and if you ask they will go around show you everything vegetarian on the buffet.

Columbia harbor house (as mentioned) has the best hummus sandwich. it's excellent.

Spoodles is always willing to make something vegetarian and their app. sampler is a meal in itself with really good dips.

Sci Fi had a good veggie dish that was vegetables on a bed of shredded potatos with some sort of balsamic sauce or something. I was REALLY impressed, given the so-so ratings on this site. And their ice cream sundae is excellent :thumbsup2

Teppenyaki was decent but not the best meal I ever had. Our chef asked if I was vegetarian and made my meal first so the meat wasn't cooked in it. That was really nice of him. He also asked if I ate dairy and if it was OK that he cook my stuff in butter, which was just fine with me. It's a wonderful experience even if the food isn't out of this world. (Definately edible though!)

At POFQ I got a really decent vegetable sandwich one night at like 11:00, we were surprised they were still cooking, it was weird, they could make me that sandwich but not a grilled cheese? :confused3 Anyway turned out for the best because the sandwich was pretty good.

hope these help.

tricia.
