Good Offsite Hotels

what do you want in a room or hotel?

how will you travel to the parks at universal?
will you use a hotel shuttle or have a car for that?

do you have littles where you don't need 5 beds but will use a sofa or sofa bed for the kids?


that will help me help you find the best hotel for you.

some people want to be near or on international drive for the resturants.
others want to be as close to the park as possible to avoid traffic.

We would rent a car. I'd like the hotel to be clean and well kept. Our kids are 11, 9 and 5 so a sofa bed would be fine but we would also consider bringing our aerobed. Breakfast would be nice. Someplace close to offsite restaurants, we don't have to be overly close to the park. Thanks again!

There are a ton of off-site options. I think Orlando has over a 115,000 hotel rooms now and that is an ever growing number. A couple of my favorites near Universal are:

Crown Plaza Universal (3*) We usually get the room through Hotwire at around $59/ night. We are members of their Priority Club so we are often upgraded to club access which has the continental breakfast items. This hotel ranks very high if not the best in Orlando in the TripAdvisor ratings.

Peabody- 4*+ This is my wife's favorite hotel in Orlando. We get the room through Hotwire again and normally pay around $100/night but have gone as low as 69. We have upgraded to their club level for $50 which includes valet parking. The club lounge is small (2 story) and the offerings are limited but always good food. You can almost substitute their evening offering for dinner.

We just stayed at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes. It was really nice. The pool area is huge and there's a lazy river that connects all the pools. They had a lot of kids activites and each night there was something (dive in movie, smores and a campfire, etc.) We didn't eat any meals on site but there are 2 restaurants, a pool bar with food and a starbucks.

We booked through at an AAA Everyday Escape rate of $149 per night.

also sign up and get a lot of info on off site hotels, resturants, entertainment, etc.

once you have the card, it is good for life.

Don't know if you got my pm but I would look into renting a home. Rates can be as cheap as a hotel room and you get a pool, full kitchen, wash and dryer, tons of room and good location. We use loyalty usa but there are a bunch of other ones out there. Send me a pm if you want more info.

Place I stay at is close to Disney and located in Kissimmee.

I would suggest if you rent a rental home avoid at all cost Ventura rental homes is what I think they are called cause we used them in 2005 and the roof was leaking ,
never cleaned the pool until the day we left and never gave our deposit back cause they were basically saying the water damage from the roof was our fault and told them I had video of the house when we first went in and all the watr damage and take us to court and we will show the video
so needless to say we ever heard from them agian nor did we see our deposit
so beware of the vacation home rental especially those guys.
