We are leaving SHORTLY for our trip.

We will have DDP but aren't spending much time in the park. We will be staying at Riverside but are willing to travel.

We know about DTD-- WPE is on my list to try. We've done Earl before, but that is something we can pay OOP as well.

We're also aware of Pepper Market.

Can anyone else give me a good non park CS to try?

The Mara? I don't know about outstanding, but if you're going to spend time outside the parks, possibly resort hopping, this is an option.

I love the Pepper Market - something for every mood, very much like a table service, yet it is only a counter service on the dining plan.

love love love it.

You named the two I am planning on hitting - multiple times - during our 11 night stay. I LOVE WPE! Pepper Market is one of my son's favorite but I'm a little leary of the food since both my son and I were sick after eating there.

Capt'n Cooks at the Polynesian!! Newly refurbished and you order your own food via touch-screen computer...very cool! The food was wonderful when we ate there in April....as a matter of fact, we've made plans to return for lunch during our September trip!

The fish 'n chips place next to Raglan Road in DTD is also good. I don't remember the name right now. Only disappointment is that you only got one piece of fish.

I would take the boat to DTD from POR and head over to the buses... Jump on the bus for the Boardwalk and eat at ESPN or Spoodles... both are great and you cant beat the area for just hanging around.

We were just there Wed. Got the chicken and mushroom pie with chips, and the combo meal(2 scallop, 4 mini sausages, 1 fish and chips) 2 drinks and 2 fried candy bars with 2 CS credits. 2 adults, 2 children age 3, 9 could not finish it. Loved the pie! Pastry is flakey like a croissant with large chunks(1inch) of chicken in a cream sauce with sliced portabello mushrooms. Chips are thumb sized thickness. Scallops kind a small. Sausage more like hotdogs. Fried candy bar has peanuts in it(not my favourite) but I managed to nibble off the outside chocolate layer with the light batter(pogo-ish?)

Watch out for the lady behind the counter?!?

Two of my 3 faves have already been mentioned-Captain Cook's at Poly and Mara at AKL. The other one is BC Marketplace. I'm going on a non-park trip in a couple weeks, and those are the 3 places I look forward to for non-park CS.

Capt Cooks in the Poly is pretty good. We were there before the big remodel and shared a BBQ sandwich...tasty

I totally agree. I had the adult grilled cheese sandwich (minus the blue cheese) 3 times in February, yummy!!!

I also LOVE LOVE LOVE Wolfgang Puck Express in DTD. The food is so fresh and delicous and there are so many items to choose from. This is NOT your typical counter service!!!
