Hi everyone~I was wondering if there were any good restaurants outside of Disney that were good? We would just like to save a little $ by eating "off property" a couple of nights. Thanks for the help.

I can't help much with off site rest., although there are many family style rest. on Irlo Bronson Hwy.. However, you can still have a reasonable meal at many Disney rest.. We often have a late lunch (lower prices) or share the huge entrees and I never break the budget on food.

If you like really good Italian, try Carraba's. It's a chain, but it is exceptional in my opinion. We were there for four nights last Winter and ate there twice!

We liked Bahama Breeze, but neither that or Carrabas are going to save you a lot of money. Are you just looking for good, or are you looking for something much less expensive than the on-site restaurants?

We really enjoyed Chevy's, it is Mexican and in the Crossroads plaza. Great food, and really good service (atually our server was outstanding).

If you're not picky, Denny's or Ponderosa makes a decent steak. Olive Garden is also good. Golden Corral is an ok buffett is you like that. There's so much competition in Orlando, all you really need to do is pick up a couple of those coupon booklets in the airport or off site places and there's lots of coupons and directions. You can't go a block without passing a dozen different places to eat. If you like burgers and shakes, try Checkers.

My favorite cheap off-site restaurant is Sweet Tomatoes. It's an all-you-can-eat salad bar and soup buffet with pasta, pizza, potatos, and ice cream too. The food has always been very fresh and very good. The cost is less than $10 per adult, children are priced by age. You can usually save a bit on dinner with a coupon from one of the many coupon books around Orlando. The downside is that it's up near Universal at 6877 S. Kirkman Rd.

We also like Chevy's and Jungle Jims at the Crossroads Mall. Jungle Jim's has a big selection of huge burgers and great alcoholic "silly" drinks. Any burger can be made with chicken or a veggie burger instead. We also like Shells Seafood out on 192 past the Super Slow Wal*Mart Center and
Sonny's BBQ which is also out that way.

Thank you everyone!! LKS ~I am just looking for good, not extra inexpensive, but not $80.00 for lunch either (that is what we paid at Rain Forest Cafe for 2 adults and 2 children FOR LUNCH!!). I don't mind a good lunch at a reasonable price. I am not cheap, but when I left the RFC I felt like I had just been taken. All your help is wonderful, Thank you so much!!:sunny:

Jungle jims at crossroads or TGIF's in the same plaza are good choices. We tried bahama breeze and no one like the choices and it was very expensive to boot.

In the same plaza that was mentioned above, there is a PIZZERIA UNO'S
Excellent Chcago-style pizza and pizza never seems absurdly expensive to me.

Another vote for Sweet Tomato!! Loved that place. I have dreams about their strawberry lemonade ;)

My personal favorite is on US192 Key W. Kool's. :bounce: It's an open pit grill and great food. Not the cheapest place in the world, but cheaper than WDW. Grab one of those coupon books for Kissimmee and you can find some great places there.

There are many chain restaurants right around the Crossroads. When you get to the Crossroads make a left & you will find Olive Garden, Pizza Hut, Chevy's, Macaroni Grill (very good Italian), Orlando Ale House (good food, not too expensive), etc. DO NOT GO TO THE DENNY'S NEAR THE OLIVE GARDEN - IT IS FILTHY.

Rainforest is extremely expensive (I think). However, you are also paying for the atmosphere. My kids always enjoy going there, but I could do without animals screeching in my ears while I am eating.

I think the most reasonable place to eat in WDW is the Trail's End Buffet & Crockett's Tavern in Fort Wilderness. Trail's End has a great buffet breakfast & very reasonable. They also serve a lunch & dinner buffet. Crockett's Tavern has pizza after 4 p.m. (I think). Decent pizza & 2 of them fed 8 of us (4 adults - 4 kids) & we were all full. Reasonable prices also.

Join MYPoints & earn points to get gift certificates for some of the chains mentioned above.

Ther is a Macaroni Grill and a Don Pablo's close by also. You can get the address from either of their websites just use an Orlando zipcode. I have several if you need one just post here and I will answer.

Goofyzgurl Where is Sweet Tomatoes? That sounds good. :-)

How far a way is JUngle Jims from WDW?.. We are going to Universal for 2 of the days and I thought on the way back to WDW we could stop here. Would this be on the way??? Jungle Jims looks pretty cool????thanks,,Corvair

Jungle Jim's is in the Crossroads Shopping Center.....which is about 3 to 5 blocks from Downtown Disney!

We went to Chevy's last week and it was great! And, the best service that we had! We also have enjoyed the Red Lobster and Olive Garden in the past, which are also at Crossroads. Now, if I would have seen a Carraba's, we would have definitely been there! ;) As usual, we did the RFC on our 1st day, and it is a huge ripoff! The food isn't even that great, IMHO...

If you like pizza, you will LOVE Giordano's! Get the stuffed pizza - it is out of this world! I think a large is a little under $20.00, and will EASILY feed 4 hungry adults (my dh can eat 2 pieces, compared to almost an entire large from Pizza Hut!) There is one on 192 and one in Lake Buena Vista. I highly recommend it! We have to go at least once, and usually more, each trip - we LOVE it!
