Strange title, I know.

But I just wanted to let those who followed Tucker's story know that the vet called to let me know the test results and he did not have anything communicable (no FIP) and there is no risk to my other cats. It was also not cancer.

He did have Hipatic Lipidosis (fatty liver disease) and she also feels pretty certain that he must have had a congenital weakness in that area because he became so sick so quickly (and so young). Obviously there is no way to know for sure, but that is her best guess based on his history and the way things presented. The test results are as clear as possible, as they come from tissue samples they took during his surgery of his stomach, liver, intestines, lymph nodes... as good as we can get without an autopsy.

This is good news because there was the possibility that he had something that would put our other cats (and kittens) at risk...and possibly the kittens that I gave to others. It had me so worried to think that this could repeat itself...just devastating to think about.

Ironically, sad to report that Tucker's sister died the same week due to an accident. Apparently the garage door on my in-laws shed fell on her and she was killed instantly. (My in-laws adopted her the same time we adopted Tucker) As heartbroken as we all are, we like to think that they have each other in heaven. It's just strange how things happen, you know?

We miss Tucker deeply and are trying to focus on how much happiness he brought to our home.

Thanks again for all of your thoughts, prayers and hugs. They really helped cushion the blow.

I'm glad to know your other kitties will be okay. RIP, Tucker.

I'm so glad to hear everyone else will be okay.

Thanks for sharing this info. In return, maybe this will help some.

Your Pets In Heaven
by Ken D. Conover

To have loved and then said farewell, is better than to have never loved at all. For all of the times that you have stooped and touched my head, fed me my favorite treat and returned the love that I so unconditionally gave to you.

For the care that you gave to me so unselfishly.

For all of these things I am grateful and thankful.

I ask that you not grieve for the loss, but rejoice in the fact that we lived, loved and touched each others lives. My life was fuller because you were there, not as a master/owner, but as my FRIEND.

Today I am as I was in my youth. The grass is always green, butterflies flit among the flowers and the Sun shines gently down upon all of God's creatures. I can run, jump, play and do all of the things that I did in my youth. There is no sickness, no aching joints and no regrets and no aging.

We await the arrival of our lifelong companions and know that togetherness is forever.
You live in our hearts as we do in yours. Companions such as you are so rare and unique.

Don't hold the love that you have within yourself. Give it to another like me and then I will live forever. For love never really dies, and you are loved and missed as surely as we are.

It must be such a relief to know your other pets aren't in danger. Sorry for your loss though. I know how close a pet is to the family

It won't stop the hurt, but it must be a relief to know that your other kit kats will be okay! Tucker is pain free and playing with his sister now.

Lily (3 1/2 yr. old cinnamon and sugar colored fluffy cuddle machine kitty) and I keep Tucker and his sister in our prayers. We always (ok, so I do most of the talkin') say our special Kitten Prayer whenever we see or hear about a kitty who has passed away and your baby will be prayed for.

So glad to hear it wasn't FIP. I know we worried about our other cat until we had all her test results back.
Too bad about Tucker's sister.

I'm glad the test results came back negative. I know how worried you were.

Thanks for sharing. Hugs to all the kittens! :grouphug:

I'm glad to hear that you had some good news. It is hard to lose a beloved pet, and worry about the others would have been terrible. :grouphug:

I'm glad it wasn't FIP. And it's sad about Tucker's sister, but kind of oddly meant to be, perhaps?

poohandwendy: I am so sorry for all that you went through. I remember reading your story and how sad I was for you

Tigger_Magic: That made me cry! It was really beautiful!
