I got great news last night, my daughters boyfriend asked permission for her hand in marriage. He is a nice guy and I know she loves him very much, I'm very happy for her. But here's the thing, she doesn't know he is proposing, it's a surprise (don't tell anyone) and he would like some ideas on how to go about it. Since we will be in Disney World next week, he wants to do it there, It is my daughters favorite place, naturally, so he wants to make this very special. I know it will be special even if he decides to ask her in the parking lot near the trash compactor, but you know what I mean. So does anyone have any ideas or have heard of some romantic or far out engagement stories??? :bride: :groom: :goodvibes

How about having dinner at Cindy's (in the castle) and having the ring brought to the table in glass slipper? I think I once read about this being done - you could call the restaurant and ask.

My DH proposed to me at Disney World, in front of Cinderella's Castle (sitting on the wall of the flower garden where the statue is of Walt and Mickey - it was just flowers then)

He tried to get me to sit down all day long but I wanted to see this and that and rush everywhere. He finally persuaded me to drink a root beer float and we sat down. When he went to throw away the cups he took out the ring and proposed when he came back.

I was speechless, he had to ask me again.

Finally I said yes. I wish we had thought to get someone to take our picture. There was a man right behind us taking video of the castle. He gave us a thumbs up when we turned around. I wonder if he has that on tape?

Congratulations to you and your DD. You are a lucky family to be welcoming such a great guy to the clan. Let us know how it all turns out.

The wishing well at the side of the castle is a very romantic spot. It would definitely be a good place to propose!!

Congratulations on her engagement. What if he proposed to her inside of the castle, and then outside some of the characters would be there to give her a speical congratulations.

He should do it while Wishes is going on, or about to end. I'm sure she's wishing that he's her price...it's a perfect time!

Ooohh....I really like Shannon G's advice!! Wow!! To find an engagement ring in a glass slipper in Cinderella's Castle....could anything top that?? :faint:

They are some great suggestions, as it turns out they do have a PS for the castle for dinner one night, does anybody have an extra glass slipper we could borrow??;) princess:

Check out eBay! There are quite a few.. On the home page type in glass slipper in the search area - then when the page comes up, scroll down along the left and click where it says "Disneyana"..

A whole bunch of Cinderella glass slippers! And if you need it quick, maybe the seller would ship it by Priority Mail for a little extra..

Congrats to all! :)

How about on one of her favorite slower rides (obviously not a roller coaster!!:teeth: ) that way he could talk to her and it would still be relaxing also. i really like the idea of going into the cinderella's castle to propose. how romantic!! she will surely feel like a princess no matter what! have a great trip.

Wonderful news!! It has to be by the Castle somehow. In, around, near. But has to be the Castle.

DH bought me a glass slipper at the crystal shop at DTD a few years ago. It was not very expensive at all and they will engrave it as well!

DH proposed at the MK right next to Cinderella's Castle and it was magical!! I was totally shocked and to become engaged in the happiest place on earth is such a great story to tell!

Congratulations to your daughter and soon to be son in law!

He could take her to Toontown to see Mickey Mouse.

Maybe he could whisper in Mickey's ear (or to the CM that guides you) and have Mickey hand her the ring.

I think this would be cute. Everybody always thinks about the castle. Maybe something different would be nice.

Why don't you buy a glass slipper from ebay and rent the pumpkin carriage and do it on the carriage ride. Also if you want to catch it on film find out the route and tell the driver in advance that when you get to a certain point to stop and tha family can come out with the camara and after the proposal they can finish the carriage ride alone. It can probably even be done during wishes.

Congratulations!

If you want, you could check your yellow pages for a glass blower near you--sometimes they will do a custom order right away.

you all have very creative minds, thanks for all the input!! hope he doesn't chicken out! :earsgirl: :earsboy:

They sell glass slippers in the crystal shop right on Main Street USA...the one where you can watch the guy do the glass blowing.

I would also like to be on the beach at the Poly, with the Electric Water pageant going by, and have him propose

I will tell him to look for the shop on main street (if he decides to use that idea), there are so many good ideas here he may have a hard time deciding. Thanks for that website Floridafam, I know that will be very helpful for what I'm sure will be a Disney themed wedding!! :lovestruc :bride: :groom: :lovestruc
