I've spent an anxious day waiting and praying while my dear friend Donna was having surgery to remove the brain tumor she just found out a week ago that she had. I'm sorry I won't be able to explain this better, because medical jargon is way beyond me, but the gist of it is that the tumor was resting against some part of her brain that it's too dangerous to touch, and the surgeon thought he'd have to leave a piece of it in there because of that. Possible scenarios that were presented to her included everything from loss of motor function to death on the operating table.
Well, she's out of surgery, and everything looks really good! They only had to leave 2 small slivers of the tumor. She's alert, and has all motor function
, just a little weakness in her right arm. Thank You God!
Then, 5 minutes after I hung up the phone from that call, my daughter called me. 2 weeks ago she auditioned for a violin scholarship (she's entering the local university as a violin performance major in the fall). Even though she did wonderfully well at the audition, she was awarded a smaller scholarship than we had hoped for, because the scholarship fund was really low at the university. But today, her violin teacher (she already takes lessons from the man who runs the strings department at the university, and will be her teacher there) told her that he had pulled who knows what strings for her, and got her scholarship doubled! She has the biggest music scholarship of any student this year!
This is turning out to be a really good day.
