Hi all,

Did this happen to anyone? We closed about 10 days ago, and our timeshare title co sent our docs to DVC. I know we are closed because I spoke to the seller and they received their money last week.

So I call DVC to see if we are in the system, and they say....

They have no record of my contract closing!!!! They are "researching" it. Someone is on vacation in that department ..yadda yadda.

Has anyone had this happen to them? Does anyone have any idea who I can contact?

I would start with the company that handled your re-sale. I am sure they didnt sent documents like that vie regular mail and they can immediately track the package to find out where it is.

Once you know if someone at DVD signed for the documents, then you can track the person down by name. If the documents never made it, then your timeshare title company needs to contact to Co they used for shipping and find those documents! (or show you proof that they were mailed, etc).

Hopefully that will get things straightened out before you end up back signing paperwork again (which actually shouldn't be a big deal either, since its a new transaction, the sellers have their money, etc - but who wants to have to deal with it.)

Good luck!

I wonder how long it takes for you to appear on Orange County Comptroller - Official Records after the documents are recorded? Maybe you could do a search for yourself, and see if you are in there? I don't know if it would help any, but it seems like if you could find your documents on the web, you could point that out to DVC and see if it would help them to find you?

Thanks! I found our sale in the Comptroller's records so I know it has been recorded.

Frankly, I used a very reputable title company that does tons of DVC, so I know they did not screw it up. I am more inclined (especially given the tortured history of the way DVC has handled this resale) that the problem lies on DVC's end. Perhaps they "lost" our documents again (this would not be the first time).

Anyway, I will keep calling them if they don't get back to me today. Thanks again!

I had this problem when closing with TCS. Kept calling Disney who had no record of it. Finally, some angel in the MS office did some research for me and we solved the problem---TCS had given me an incorrect contract number.

Good luck and hope you get to make those ressies soon!

Apparently there is one person at Disney that puts resales closings into Disney's computer. And when she goes on vacation, nothing happens. When we purchased our resale last December, I was told to be patient by my broker - that it normally takes about 3 days to get in Disney's system, but the person had just gotten back from vacation and she was trying to get caught up. Took about a week and half for us.

So your closing papers may not be lost - just in a big pile that needs to be worked through.

If it has been more than two weeks and you are still not in the system, I would then have your broker track things down.

Sounds very familiar to me because it took over 2 weeks to get in the system and only after I finally complained to Disney and MS called the person and got me in by the afternoon. It was very frustrating because I was trying to coordinate my frequent flier tickets and my parents trip from Boston with their flights, etc. I don't think it ever happens too fast...

You know I have to say, if this is true (and I don't doubt you for 1 second), I am astounded by DVC's "government" mentality. In the government (and by that I am speaking of my state only) if "the person" goes on vacation, no one takes care of whatever "the person" is supposed to do. PERIOD. If it is an important matter ... Oh well.

How can a corporation like DVC operate in this manner?

because it is a resale.

No one has a problem when DVC make the sale. It is on the records immediately.

disney does not discriminate against resales in other things - so if this is the only thing just be patience.

I think DVC tells the brokers - weeks....

I beg to differ.

We have been trying frantically since late May to do an add-on. DVC has had the credit card information since May, and the special paperwork we needed because our account is held by a trust since June 10. We have STILL not received a contract to sign and return.

Oddly enough, the points are in the account! I'm not sure how they do that, or charge a credit card without something in writing, but they did. I talked to a wonderful lady at MS today about other things, and she just said, "Oh well, they probably figure they'll get around to it by the start of your use year (October)!"

I think DVC is pretty screwed up right now as far as setting up accounts and doing the points administration they have to do. The reason is probably the big push with the SSR price increase.

We had none of these problems when we bought resale a few months ago -- I'm sure it's a temporary workload problem which will be resolved in a few weeks.

I know how you feel. I already have cash res for August, and I want to use my points. I made that clear to the lady in accounting that I spoke to today.

I am happy to report that I got a call from Margie at DVC this afternoon. She and someone else were out on vacation for the last couple of weeks. Anyway, she gave me a contract number and member number this afternoon. :cool1: So I am in right???

Well Margie says I have to give it until tomorrow because the gal at MS who actually makes sure my member # is recognized by MS is on phones today and won't put me in until tomorrow. She says to call tomorrow in the afternoon and I SHOULD be in... :rolleyes1

So I am again waiting to see what tomorrow brings. But we are making very good progress. I am happy I called today and was "found."

As in ... WE HAVE A RESERVATION WITH OUR POINTS!!! :cool1:

I wanted to let everyone know that we are now in the system, and I have been on the phone with MS and have made a reservation. I also reserved our DVC APs!

Many thanks to all of you who have been helpful and encouraging throughout this process. It has been 2.5 long months since we started this and we are finally in.

And a very special thanks to our seller .... Icy-Dog! These are people of real class and integrity! Iwould not ever find a more patient and accommodating person with whom I would engage in a brokerless transaction. :cheer2:

Great news, welcome home.
