Good news from disney!!!

Perhaps Fox will counter with Michael Savage--I hear he's looking for a new gig.

Perhaps they can bring Micheal Moore in to join Rush on the show. That would be very interesting. The result would probably be more violent than the football game. ;)

Hound, you must be kidding, right? I mean no one actually believes Rush is sincere in his right wing lunacy do they? Same for Michael Moore and his leftist pinko routine. I think these guys do whatever will keep them on top, after all, this is pop culture...

As for this ridiculous move by ESPN, I'm willing to wait and see. I think Rush is a boob yet because I'm one of the few people who actually liked Dennis Miller, I'm willing to give Rush his chance. He knows how to talk and I don't believe he'll be able to pin any NFL problem on Clinton...:p

He's a very intelligent man and a big fan of football. He's gotta be better then Boomer. I'll hold judgement till after the season.

Of course I understand that both men amplify their positions (and their egos) to stay on top. Thats what would make it so much fun. Neither one would be able to back down or they would expose the facades they spent so many years building. They'ed be at each other in no time, becuase they could never allow they other guys character to get the upper hand.

All I can say is thank goodness there is are ratings... And hopefully someone to interpret them intelligently...

Rexmundi, why would you care what I think? :)

Edited to add...
You know what, I think it's wonderful he has found something actually worthwhile to do with his time! It's much better than the satire he has found so much celebrity with in the past!

I like Einstein. Used to have a poster with that quote on it in my dorm room...

Actually, a few years ago, Rush was given a tryout for Monday Night Football. According to Al Michaels, I think it was in a Playboy interview, he was really good. The problem that the producers had with him stemed from the fact that MNF is really a full time job, and they didn't feel he could be as good in a part time role. If I'm not mistaken they eventually gave that job to Dennis Miller.

NOW I get it, you were the OP of the Ei$ner, lost mind topic. I didn't catch that before.

Ok, yes I think Eisner is a troubled soul, but I think that movie has very little to do with that. Actually, I hope Mr. Limbaugh makes Disney lots and lots of money (so they can build a Haunted Mansion Hotel :teeth: ). The poor guy lost his hearing, lost his job (I guess) and lost his fan base. He doesn't have the cuties chasing after him any longer, he needs something to do with his time. I'm just glad I'm not a big ESPN fan, and I can see my Cubbies on WGN.

And straying from this topic, going to your other, I am an artist, I love art, I don't think anyone should curb it. It is expression, something our country is sorely missing most of the time. This is my opinion. Hopefully you will go out, see this movie, view controversial art, watch questionable theatre, even read a banned (read: changed for the sake of political correctness) book in it's original state and form some of your own opinions. Don't follow what others say blindly, if you must hate and judge, do so knowingly, not because someone else said you must.

By the way, this is one beef I've always had with Disney. The dumbing down of classic literature. I feel wayyyy too lucky that my family made me read the books before I could see the movie (or in some cases after I saw the movie to see what I had missed). Not that this has squat to do with the current topic, sorry Bob.

:) Have a great night!

While Rush, as a conservative talk show host, may not be your cup of tea, he does know how to relate to regular people outside of his occupational box. Had you met him not knowing who he was, say, on a train, you might find him to be a charming intelligent man. Dennis Miller is the same to some extent. But Miller's humor is quite obtuse at times and the average football fan thinks he speeks a foreign language in his commentary. Rush doesn't need to bash you with big words and obscure references to try and be funny.
Plus, Rush is a "superfan". Not an expert, mind you, but he knows his stuff.
I do know he'll offend some Democratic listeners with his "environmentally correct" picks. (It's hard to describe, just trust me)
I think many will find him an intertesting change of pace that many people will like despite themselves.

I think we should give Rush a chance before judging him. Anyone who has negative feelings about him ought to watch him on ESPN this fall before making any judgments based on what others have said about him. Come on, people--think for yourselves! :jester:

*robin*--just curious, was this admonition intended for me, or was it simply a statement for general consumption? I can't thinkof anything hateful (sarcastic, maybe, but not hateful) in any of my posts, but you appear to be directing your comment at me.
With all due respect, it seems you are the one judging--after all, how do you know that I don't read "banned" books, view controversial art, and engage in other intellectual pursuits? Just because I choose not to view one display of controversial art based on descriptions and reviews of it, or because I choose not to view a movie that sounds, to be honest, to be both vapid and crass, does this make me a close-minded bigot? Or are you just making assumptions without all the evidence?

No Rex, just got on a rant, I do that sometimes...

No sarcasm from me, Rush will do a great job, like he does in everything he chooses to do!!!!!!!! Though he is a big football fan and i dont think him or espn want to make this political. I will even watch this show when i normally wouldnt do so.
As for Micheal Moore, he would act in a boorish manner like he usually does while Rush would be calm and act in a professional manner like he always does.
And Rush does believe what he says and has been saying the same thing for at least the two decades he has been on radio, if he had wanted to be part of the in crowd he would have started out spewing the same liberal BS that came out of the media till his arrival on the scene.
Now his envormentally correct picks would be great!!!!
And if disney was really smart they would ad him to the lousy abc evening news and stop that idiot jennings every time he tells all of his falsehoods as part of the liberal abc news shows!!

Geez Bob, I think you may need to tune out the real world a little more. Maybe a long sailing trip incommunicado???;)

Bob has it right fellow Disboarders. If everyone would set aside the years of Lib conditioning and listen in ,You would find he is highly intelligent and well prepared in everything he pusues. Also he worked for the Kansas city chiefs for a few years,so he is more than a fan. :smooth:

Personally I think this will be interesting. Rush actually started out as a sports announcer many years ago. I believe that it was in Kansas City to be exact.

While I don't agree with everything that Rush has to say I do like some of his points.:smooth:
