However, excitement tainted by the fact that we discovered yesterday that free DDP has mysteriously disappeared from our booking

I have great faith it will get sorted, especially as it was on our 1st 3 invoices, but I just know it's going to be a lot of hassle I could well do without

We have this aswell, when i log into disney website and look at booking it doesnt show anything for the free dining, i spoke to a nice lady at disney uk who said dont worry it does get missed of invoices but it was showing on there computer so im pretty sure you wont have any problems.

I had that problem at first when I looked at our booking for next year despite it being on my invoices, I gave them a ring and the fixed it so it was showing for me. I wouldn't worry about it especially as like you said it's on your invoices, its just a system error no doubt.

As you say I'm sure it's just an admin error-fortunately for me booking is in DH name so I'm leaving him to call Virgin and sort it out
