Looking for recommendations for hotels.

The last three times we went to DL we stayed at DLH, which was wonderful but now looking for a bit of a cheaper option.

Would like a moderate/nice hotel, these seem to be a bit further from the park. Any recommendations for off property hotels?

Any reviews on taking the ART bus, is it convenient? Traveling with a 6 year old so would like to avoid too much walking after a day at the parks.

Thanks,

Courtney

We’ve enjoyed our stays at the Cambria. It’s about a mile away, has a nice water park with a fun splash pad and water slides, plus a nightly Disney movie.

There’s also 2 art stops nearby. However, I’ve not had the best experiences with Art, but I’m sort of impatient. The worst part is that they don’t have scheduled routes between 10am and 6pm so if you want a ride back, you have to schedule it in the app. They could send a private vehicle rather than a bus, so seems a bit sketchy.

Also, when I’d schedule, they placed a dot on a map to where I should go, but it was never at a bus stop, but apparently I was supposed to know that and go to the bus stop anyway. it’s not the worst thing in the world, but walking or Uber can be more convenient.

When we used ART from the Hyatt House it was very inconsistent. Sometimes it didn't show up at all. We stopped trying to use it after the second day.

The Candy Cane Inn is a motel on Harbor. They recently renovated the entire place so it's very nice. We've stayed there before and enjoyed it. They have a shuttle, which was very handy, especially when we traveled with little kids. They also serve breakfast. They're 10-15 minutes away by foot, but we always used the shuttle.

If you don't want to stay in a motel, alot of people like the Westin or Courtyard Marriott. They're a 15-20 minute walk, but you could easily Uber instead.

If you used to stay at the Disneyland Hotel, the Courtyard Theme Park Entrance will be a similar walk. If you don't want to walk, you may also want to look into the Hyatt Regency Orange County since they have a direct shuttle that drops off at the park entrance which is on a very timely schedule. The ART bus is not very reliable outside of when the park opens and when the park closes.

Thank you for this, walking would be our first choice within a close proximity. I would have no issues with a motel on harbour except that we are going with another family that has been once and stayed at the Grand, might be too big of a jump for them. I will take a look at both.

The only time we stayed at a hotel that was not within walking distance was the Embassy Suites in '08. Using the ART system was a royal pain in the rear and vowed to stay within walking distance of the parks after that trip. IMO, I waiting in enough lines during the day that I just didn't want to start and end my day in lines. Sounds like it has not improved much over the years from the comments so far. But I am guessing there are a lot of ppl out there that it works for just fine for them. Pros and cons to each.
