Ok, I am really confused about something, it doesn't take much, but. When we stayed at The Carousel last week, the building we were in had no elevator so we had to bother someone to take our luggage up and down, it was just weird, so we are going back in Dec. so I call Tropicanna because we would really like to stay there and I ask about elevators and they say not all the buildings have them, what is up with that?? I stayed a couple nights during our stay at the Fairfield and they had elevators. So just wondering, in and around that part of Harbor, what do you all recomend?? Help please. Thank You.:goodvibes

I stayed a the Ramada Maingate and it was okay for the money...I wouldn't recommend them though. This time I'm going to stay at the Best Western down the street (and closer to the gate) because I've heard wonderful things about them.

Many of the 'hotels' on Harbor are actually older motels w/ walk up type rooms and open corridors. That's why they may not have elevators. Hojos Bld 1 has elevators and does not have open corridors.

The Tropicana has elevators in the 3 story side of the motel, the other side (2 stories) does not just an FYI.

We stay at the Trop or the HoJo, they both have elevators and they are both nice hotels. We have also stayed at the BWPPI, not sure about elevators, we were there for 1 night and used the stairs. :) I'm sure they have them tho, we were in a handicapped room on the 2nd floor. :)

What is your reason for not staying at the Ramada again? We will be staying there in a couple of weeks. Just wanted a heads up. TIA

I would probably stay at the Fairfield again, I enjoyed it, I just wanted to try the Tropicana because I have heard such great things about it. I guess it makes sense since they are older hotels that they would not have the elevators, it is just I am a cardiac patient so I can't lug my luggage up stairs. I might call the Tropicana back and see what I can do, can anyone describe their rooms to me, just curious. Thanks.:goodvibes

Snce you are a cardiac patient maybe you could ask if they have handicap access rooms. Those rooms would have to be accessible to people w/ wheelchairs and as such would either be ground floor or have elevator access. Good luck! My granpa was a cardiac patient and I know it can be tough, especially when you have a condition that people can't visually see.

Definitely call them and explain the health reasons you need an elevator. I'm sure they will be accomodating!! The rooms are nice but a bit on the smaller side. You get a small table and 2 chairs by the window, the a/c units are under window and they can be noisy. You get a small desk and chair next to the TV, a small fridge and microwave on the opposite side of that. The bathroom is on the opposite side from the door and the toilet and shower close off from the sink and mirror. You also get a table between the beds with an alarm clock and lamp on it. HTH

I'd asked for a non-smoking room but the one I got smelled of cigarette smoke. It was pretty clean except for the toilet which was stained inside and ran constantly which was annoying and made it so I had to close the bathroom door while I slept. The air conditioner was very loud (and I love white noise, humidifier, fan... etc), however I got a good spot in the hotel because apparently it's known for being loud at night with people coming and going too.

I just want to see if Best Western is any better for the extra ten dollars...it's closer to the gate so I figure why not. I'd stay at the Ramada again, BW just sounds nicer.

The Best Western Park Place Inn has elevators. I stayed there last fall in a very nice room - it had been redone fairly recently and had new granite counters, fresh paint, new bedspreads, carpet etc. I was very pleased with it - and you can't beat the short walk to the parks from there!

I also stayed at Tropicana last fall...I liked the Best Western a little better...it was just a little bit nicer, though I think the Trop has a nicer pool area.

The Carousel has elevators apparently they are just super slow, or the have only one. Hmmmmm

They do have elevators, but there is one building that is two stories and it does not have an elevator to it, that is the one we were in.

Thank you, actually yesterday I decided on the Best Western, location is good plus I saw the rooms on another thread and they look very nice, plus the short walk.:goodvibes
