I have a question, we are traveling in September to DL, we have pinpointed two Good Neighbors, any opinions on these two hotels, Desert Palms Inn & Suites vs. Fairfield Inn & Suites? We looked at the Desert Palms because a friend of a friend has actually stayed there, then I saw on Instagram someone staying at the Fairfield, it looks really nice. We are also looking for the best way to get from LAX to either of these hotels any input would be greatly appreciated.

Lots of people on this forum stay at the Desert Inn quite a bit and seem to like it. The Fairfield I think is more pricey. The Hojo in that same area is nice and has a great pool for kids. As far as transportation, I would take either a shuttle bus or uber/lyft depending on how many people in your party and whether you need car seats.

Out of those choices, I'd pick the Fairfield Inn. It's been recently remodeled and the rooms look really nice. It's slightly farther than Desert Inn, but I think the quality of the room outweighs that. There is a Panera you can hit on the way out for a quick breakfast too! Also, if you are a Marroitt rewards member, the Fairfield will allow you to build points.\

ETA: The slightly farther part was for Desert Inn & Suites and not the Palms! So FFI is closer of those two.

That's great, which of the two is closer to the entrance of the park?

Thanks, right now we have a car booked for traveling to the hotel, so we can stop for snacks, etc, we are turning it in that same day. As for the hotels, we have a cast member with us and both of those choices offer discounts, so they are coming out to be about the same price, I guess I more curious about the distance from the hotels to the park entrance and how nice wither hotel is.

I am a FFI regular. Nice and clean. Older property but rooms have recently been "refreshed". I like the outdoor corridors that wrap the building and overlook the park. Great fireworks view of you are back at the hotel. Predictably mediocre as I like to say...nice and close walk to the gates.

Uber is my preferred method to get from LAX to DL. If you are driving, download and use the Waze app which will route you there quickest based on real time traffic conditions.

Just to clarify- there are two "Desert" hotels near DLR. The Desert Inn & Suites is a budget hotel pretty close to the Harbor crosswalk that is popular with some folks on this board. The Desert PALMS is on Katella next to the Alpine and I don't see it mentioned quite as much as the Desert Inn. I believe the OP is asking about the Desert Palms. Given that, FFI is quite a bit closer and I think a nicer property from what I've seen (though I have not stayed at either).

Oh good point! I missed the PALMS part. Sorry for the confusion OP! Well, it's no question then... the Fairfield Inn is both closer and nicer imho. That'd be my choice.

If I had a choice it would be the Fairfield, much nicer hotel/property. We now stay closer just do to the hassle of staying elsewhere, farther away from the parks. Good luck.
