Hello! :)

I am attending a dance intensive in LA this summer and just HAVE to visit Disneyland!!!

This will be my family's first visit to California (super excited! :cool1: ) and we definitely need some help.

Can any of you recommend a nice, clean good neighbor hotel for DL?

Thanks so much! :goodvibes

I've only stayed at the Red Lion, but it's not that close to the park entrance. If you're looking for very close, don't consider it, but we found it to be clean and pretty nice for the price. Sometimes they run deals wherein breakfast and parking is included in the price. Their parking lot is secure and we really like that considering we've paid to park there.

I've had no luck so far with close hotels so I will definitely check this out!

What are your requirements? How many people? Is breakfast important? Price? Pool?

Are you not having luck because they are all booked, or because you'd like something nicer (but maybe farther away?)

I'm sure you will get lots of recommendations here! :)

I love Howard Johnson. I never stay anywhere else :) All my trips have been at that hotel

I think the question is if you will have a car or not. Meaning do you have to be walking distance or not. If you don't have to be walking distance I recommend embassy suites anaheim south. Its not far away but too far to walk. They have an all you can eat breakfast buffet included. I believe they have a shuttle as well.

I recommend lodging that is close enough that you can walk to the parks. You might try any of the following:

Ramada Inn Maingate
Best Western Park Place Inn (tiny pool, but closest to park entrance and shortest walk)
Camelot Inn
Tropicana Inn
Howard Johnson (also has a great splash/play area for kids)
Carousel Inn (rooftop pool)
BW Anaheim Inn
Candy Cane Inn (also has an exclusive shuttle)

If you want more of an official hotel (tall structure with interior lobby, etc), the Hilton and Anaheim Marriott are a little bit farther, but still within walking distance, or you can use the ART shuttle. You can also walk to the Disney parking lot across the street and take the free shuttle to the parks.)

Thank you, Mary Jo!
Walking distance is indeed very important. I will definitely check into those! :)

It will be two people (my mom and I) so safety is an issue. I suppose breakfast and a pool are not important but we are definitely checking prices! :)

I suppose I could have given more information! My apologies..

We will need walking distance because my mom is quite old and doesn't want to get tired before she gets to the parks (lol!). We won't have a car with us while we are in Cali either.

BWPPI is right at the crosswalk to enter DLR property.....the closest you can get. Candy Cane is down Harbor Blvd, a short walk (about 10 minutes to the actual entrances to the parks), but they have their own free shuttle. It is on-time, easy and so convenient! They have a nice "expanded continental breakfast" and a fine pool and hot tub. Both give AAA discounts.

In light of the new information, don't bother looking at Red Lion. It's a couple of blocks, but they're HUGE blocks, lol.

We like BWPPI...it is so convenient. But if it was just me and my daughter, I think I would pick CCI. The shuttle is very convenient, and it's a little nicer. But either would be great.

Fairfield Inn without a doubt!

If you are deciding to stay outside the resort then FFI is my top choice. I have also stayed at HOJO, Best Western Park Place Inn, Disneyland Hotel, and Grand Californian as well as the Fairfield. If I was staying outside again I would definitely choose FFI. Rooms are newly renovated and its within walking distance.

Thanks! The BW sounds great! Especially those AAA discounts! :thumbsup2

Lol! Will mark it off my list then. Thanks for your help anyways! Much appreciated. :)

Thank you! I will definitely look at both. The shuttle sounds very nice! :)

I've had many suggest the BWPPI and FF. Will definitely check into all of those! Thanks! :)

Here is a great map that helped me when choosing a place to stay. If you zoom in quite a bit, you will see the crosswalk, each hotel, and their size, shape, and location.

We have stayed at BWPPI, and Desert Inn which are both at the crosswalk. They aren't fancy, but they are clean and as close as you can get as far as Good Neighbor hotels.

Hope that help. :goodvibes

Thank you very much! This is a huge help! Now I can see just how far we have to walk to the DL enterence.

Thanks again! :)

We really liked Ramada Maingate. They have an ECV rental place right next to the lobby, in case your mom needs one. Free breakfast, very short walk, clean and safe. The updated rooms are very nice.

We stayed at the Ramada Maingate last week and we liked it. It's a little older but we found it to be very clean, no maintenance issues and they were always super fast to bring more towels, coffee, etc. The breakfast was hard boiled eggs, 3 kinds of cereal, donuts, fresh fruit (apples, oranges and bananas), toast, bagels, juice and coffee. Every other day there was biscuits and gravy. The pool is small but we only got in once, otherwise we were at the beach or parks. It's so close to the parks! And it was the cheapest hotel we found near the entrance. We would definitely stay there again.

Thanks so much! Will definitely check into it. The ECV may come in handy... If she can promise not to run into anyone! :p
