Okay, I am really confused. I see this OP posting on EACH board here. And all the responses on the boards seem to be completely ga-ga over the fact that "TY" is posting here.

SINCE WHEN DO WE BELIEVE THAT SOMEONE IS WHO THEY SAY THEY ARE JUST BECAUSE THEY TYPED IN A "FAMOUS" USERNAME????


Call me cynical but I have NO REASON to believe that this is really Ty, and every reason to just think that this is just a "jokester" like many of the others we have seen.

Disney's Year of a Million Dreams has NOTHING to do with the DIS boards, as some are now suggesting and I see no reason they would send Ty here to promote it.

Ty Penningtons has much better things to do at 2:30am then post on every board on the DIS. Any Tom, Dick, Harry, Mary or Jane can sign up for an account here and pick any name they want, as long as it isn't already taken. Someone is having great fun with you all here, and you all have fallen for it hook, line and sinker!

Yeah you're probably right! I don't see what the big deal is - its not like the OP was asking for donations or something. Hey OP is probably having fun w/us - whooppee! I don't see it as totally outrageous that he wouldn't be on these boards (or his assistant) - he is a real person you know. He is associated w/Disney - shows on ABC (owned by Disney), families are sent to Disney on the show. I don't see it as totally unrealistic that Disney would have Ty as part of the Year of Million Dreams - seems like it would be a good campaign to me.

Everyone on the boards know the disboards get Disney news and information pretty quickly - even faster then some TAs. Why wouldn't Disney use the boards as another medium for their Year of Million Dreams campaign - its free? I don't see it as outrageous as some. Have fun w/it!

dont know if this is really you or not but either way..my family loves watching this every sun..it makes us appreciate what we have.we struggle like everyone else to just pay rent, bills etc. and sometimes it can get depressing but at the end of the day we're just happy that we're all alive and healthy and just glad for the fact that we can all sit down "together" for that one hour. way to go

Perhaps Ty, Oprah and the others really aren't on the DIS, but you never know.
A few weeks ago I was home during the day and checking out the boards. Within a few minutes a message came up in several of the forums that was a hokey, thinly disguised advertisement for someone's travel service. Another board member and I posted back to this person that his attempts at advertisement here on the DIS were not appropriate. Within 15 minutes all of that posters messages were completely removed by one of the moderators. The user name was removed too.
If any harm is being done by the celebrity OP's then I am sure that the moderators will step in.
I am for playing along to see what happens. IMHO that is the spirit of the DIS anyway.

Finally the voice of reason! I usually ignore posts like these, but I thought I would check in to see what everyone could be writing about. .

I don't buy the celeb status either nor do I understand WHY someone would want to waste his/her time pretending. . .

Now that I understand that this is all in good fun, I really should apologize for my post here. I thought it was a scheme for publicity. Now that I know that it is just something to make Disers happy, I think that it is only fair that I should withdraw that comment and apologize. Sorry for getting a little frustrated, celebrities.
