What moderate resort should we stay at? Its just me and my boyfriend, no kids. We are in our late 20's. Also, we will be going in January so pools aren't important. They all look awesome! Its hard to decide! Or should we just get one of the cheaper rooms at a deluxe? Decisions decisions!

DH and myself have only stayed @ Caribbean Beach and love it. Our first stay was in 06 for our honeymoon, since then we have been back three other times with now our DD. We are in our late 20's as well and we really enjoy the Caribbean feel, music, landscaping, ( I know you said pool wasnt really important) but we love the pool & bar area. The hotel is very spread out which we enjoy, doesnt feel so congested & tight like other resorts might. We just love the the feeling of being in WDW but also feeling like your in the Caribbean! :thumbsup2

DH and I love POFQ! We've stayed there more times than any other resort. It is small and intimate. Everything is close by: the bus stop, food court, and front desk. And they have a boat that takes you to DTD that is a relaxing 20 minute ride. Usually when we go, the bus in dedicated to FQ and does not share with POR. It is a quick walk to POR if you want to schedule a carriage ride or eat at Boatwrights restaurant. Wherever you stay, it will be a magical time. Good luck!

POFQ is my favorite, followed by POR. Both have the boat to DTD which is really nice. POFQ is smaller which I liked, but you can walk over to POR if you want a sit-down restaurant or a larger food court.

I just booked POR about an hour ago. It will be our first stay, I just liked the way it looked and was reading things about it for about a week. I just hope they don't put us on the Mansion side, I like the other sides look so much more. I think our boys would enjoy it more too. CBR was the other we were deciding on. It was hard to decide.

We absolutely LOVE POR, specifically the Alligator Bayou section we enjoy. The Resort is beautiful, inside and out, excellent quick service food options, and the staff have always been gracious and pleasant and willing to help with any situations that may arise! The grounds are beautiful, and we love the boat option to go to Downtown Disne, and rarely (if ever, i think!), have had any problems with the bus transportation. Good luck deciding!

Another vote for CBR. The Wife and I are around your ages and do enjoy it pretty well. It was way better than CSR. We haven't done either POR/POFQ

You might also check prices at Swan & Dolphin; they're deluxe level accommodations for much less. Downside is you can't use Magical Express or have a combined room key/park ticket KTTW card. Upside is you're right between Epcot and DHS, across from the boardwalk, have some great restaurants & lounges right there, and they have the BEST beds on property.

We've stayed at POR (when it was Dixie Landings still), CBR, and POFQ. Our favorite is POFQ for the small size of the resort, the atmosphere, and the queen beds (which I believe POR will have soon, too, in all rooms). Our 2nd pick would be POR. I love having queen beds which CBR does not have unfortunately.

We have only stayed at one -- and that is the Coronado Springs Resort (CSR). We love everything about it -- so much in fact that we have stayed nine times. Although it is great for kids, it is also great for adults as there is the pool bar, the Laguna Bar near the lake and the Rix Lounge -- with music on the weekends (DJ) and a dance floor (more upscale). The queen beds are heavenly, you can get a massage, there is a great hot tub and three quiet pools.

We've visited the other moderates and the only one we would consider of the remaining three if we went back to a moderate and could not get the CSR would be POR-Riverside.

We love POFQ! We love the simple fact that is a small resort, so it's less walk to the food court, pool, and the bus stop. I love the relaxing boat ride to Downtown Disney. To me that is a big plus! If we want to swim at POR, we can. I love theme New Orleans theme, especially the Mardi Gras deco at the food court. I love their beignets!

We've stayed at CSR and really liked that resort. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms were all renovated within the last few years with very comfy queen beds and nice decor. There's a health club on property, good options for meals and the Rix lounge is a nice place to have a drink at night and unwind. I know you said the pools weren't important and in January, it may be a bit chilly to swim but I did want to mention that the main pool is gorgeous. CSR felt more like a deluxe resort to us than a moderate. Good Luck making a decision!

Wow! Everyone here is so nice and informative and helpful and awesome and... Thanks to everyone for your responses! Our trip is so far away but we are already so excited! Any suggestions on a cheaper deluxe room?

Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge are the two least expensive of the Disney Deluxe resorts. I haven't stayed at AKL, but I loved WL. There's a boat to the MK which is great for transportation. I enjoyed the "national park lodge" feel to the resort.

Always check for discounts. On the WDW website, there's a link for special offers. Click on that to see what the current promotions are. And check out the "codes and rates" forum here on the Disboards for further info on discounts.

I think the most romantic Moderate resort for a couple is Port Orleans French Quarter. If you are considering upgrading to a Deluxe, you may want to look into renting DVC points here: http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=29 . You could stay at a Disney Vacation Club studio villa for maybe even less than you would pay for a moderate :thumbsup2.

I just got back from POR this weekend. I LOVED it!!!!!!!!!!! It was so relaxing. The transportation to and from the parks was not too long and the boat to DTD was super nice. We really enjoyed it. Some don't like the size of POR. We were in bldg 38 of Alligator Bayou and I really enjoyed the walk across the river bridge and into the quite back section of the resort. It was also conveniently located near the North bus stop. The surrey bicycles, carriage rides, and water craft rentals are also nice touches and nice things to do when wanting a break from the parks. I would go back to POR in a second!!!!

We LOVED AKL when we stayed there last September (although we did the DVC and not a regular room). It was great being able to sit on the balcony and see the animals or go to one of the look out points. The resort is stunning. WL is the other "cheaper priced" of the deluxes; we've never stayed there as the resort does not appeal to us.

We love Port Orleans Riverside! We love the grounds, carriage rides, boat to DTD, and the food court is pretty good. I also hear that the pools are heated, so you may be able to swim in January if the weather is right.

POFQ is the most beautiful moderate to us. We love the coziness and relaxing feel of it. To me it is just beautiful. Maybe it's because I'm from the NOLA area, the ambiance just wraps itself around us. The beignets are a disappointment, as they are not like the original at Cafe du Monde in NOLA, but they are a substitute when we can't go home to get our fix ;) Have a pixiedust: trip :goodvibes

we've stayed at pofq, por, cbr, and csr. pofq and cbr were on trips with and without kids. i liked them all for various reasons but overall we pick which one based on where we'll be spending the most time (which park etc...). the rooms at these 4 moderates are the same size/amenities with the exception of the suite options at csr. if your into using a fitness center, doing the spa thing then csr offers the moderate prices with a lot of the deluxe recreation. otherwise we pick which one we can get a discount at since they all have great points for staying at them.
