GOOD LUCK to all those receiving exam results tomorrow :)

:banana::cool1::woohoo::dance3::yay::cheer2:

He's going to Kingston

Logged on to Ucas at 7.20 this morning and he's got on the higher course.

Aerospace Engineering MEng/BEng(Hons) single honours.

No idea what his results are yet :rotfl:

Five minutes later Kingston sent a text confirming it. Very impressed with the Uni. His other friends are still trying to log in as the sites so busy :headache:

So Kingston will be his new home for 4 years. Handy for the Dis meet :goodvibes

Good luck everyone. Hope your sons and daughters get the results they want.

Congrats to your son:thumbsup2

I got a B in Geography and C in both Biology and Psychology. I got into Kingston for Natural Hazards & Disaster Management. I'm extremely pleased with the results because I felt like I did terrible on the Summer exams. Now I don't have to worry about anything when I go to WDW on Sunday :teeth:

Congratulations & have a great holiday:woohoo:

Well done  I think it's near impossible to come out of the summer exams and feel good about them ;) I'm thrilled for you!!
Congratulations :goodvibes

Hope everybody else has got what they hoped for too :thumbsup2

DS got D in geography and E in pyschology at AS level. He's done better than he thought he would but he didn't seem pleased, I've not seen him to talk about it . Trying hard not to be disappointed as I know he could have done better with revision. Just wish he would learn to balance x box, friends, going to the gym and school work. Got trips to Uni's coming up to decide on where to apply to but judging by the problems this year's students are having he's got to drastically improve his work ethic.

The whole uni situation is crazy this year!! :scared1:

It's good that he's done better than he thought, and he's passed both of his exams which is one of the main things (in my opinion...).

If he isn't pleased, then there's always the opportunity to resit. He could perhaps resit some of the modules in January??

The transition between GCSE and AS levels is HUGE!! :scared1: It's possible that during the AS year, your DS was still "transition-ing" (that's a stupid word - sorry!). My brother was exactly the same - after not getting what he hoped for AS, sudden realisation set in that he couldn't afford to spend hours on the xbox everynight and go out with friends most nights in the run-up to the exams. He really bucked up for the A2 year, and things turned out really well.

I wish your DS all the luck in the world :)

Congrats to everyone :thumbsup2

Although the way you guys down in England do the whole results/uni thing is completely different to the way we do it up here! I think our system is totally different to yours!

Not a good day for us here in Orlando, DS flew home yesterday (totally his decision to come home for results) unfortunatly although He got 2 B's and a C better than we thought as he was so ill and undiagnosed during exams, this was not good enough for the course he wanted at Loughborough, so if you saw a mad woman at Epcot crying her eyes out it was me as I am so upset for him he worked as hard and studied as hard as he could considering his health, I just want to get home and give him a big hug but we don't fly home until next Wednesday. He has decided to resit the 3/4 papers that let him down on Maths and further maths in January and then apply for loughborough again, and to spend a year getting healthy and if no part time job comes his way then he will do some voluntary work. Please send him some hugs and pixie dust he will certainly need it.

So sorry to hear this

Could he "apply" for extenuating circumstances? Or is that too late?

I really hope it works out xx

Wonderful news!! Congratulations to him!!

I can remember you posting about his health ~ lots of    and pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: for him for the coming year. It won't necessarily be a bad thing for him to delay a year if it means he'll get stronger healthwise. My DD got her results some time ago (she did a BTECH National Diploma) and, although she did well, she hasn't got enough points for her first choice uni although she has for her insurance one. The first uni may still take her but in case they don't she's going to do a foundation course to boost her points and will reapply for next year rather than go to her insurance choice.

Sorry to hear that, has he called the university to see if they will take him? Hope he succeeds in his chosen course:wizard:

Thats a shame. I do think that it is true in what they are saying, that this is the hardest year to get into uni due to the amount of applications.

What is it your daughter wants to study?

Thanks everyone for your kind words.
We asked the school at the time for his illness to be taken into consideration with the examination board, but because at the time he had not been diagnosed and when he was it is not a condition that will be taken into consideration, so unfortunatly no help there.
He contacted Loughbrough but they will not take him with the grades he got, he explained to them that he was unwell but they suggested a resit or remark.
He has decided now that a year off to get healthy (or as it is an on going condition, as healthy as he can - unfortunatly stress is a big factor in how bad they symptoms can be!) resit in January and do some work etc in the meantime

She wants to study Digital Media Design and has set her heart on going to her first choice. It is a shame she hasn't got in but at least she does have a place, unlike many. She is adamant that she doesn't want to go to her insurance choice, even though we've warned her that she may not get offered a place at her first choice next year. Who knows ..... she may still get a place there this year, she'll just have to wait and see.

ETA: Wonderful news    she's just received her confirmation offer ~ they are going to take her. We will be celebrating tonight now!! :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

Congratulations to everyone who did well :thumbsup2 and commiserations to all who didn't - and good luck for the resits pixiedust:

My DD (Emily) did really well in her Advanced Highers - 4 'A's and now has a place at UCL to do Medicine:cool1:

She has to take a year out so that she will be 18 at the start date so I just bought a ticket for her to come to Florida with us in October - a nice bonus (before she gets a job:laughing:)

Thanks girls. Give it a month and I'll be starting a new thread ' How do I cope with son leaving home ' :rotfl2: You think I'm joking :rolleyes1
I don't. It was bad enough when my eldest son went to Uni - I really don't know how I'll be when my youngest leaves next year - I'm dreading it... It'll be the end of an era...

Fingers crossed your son finds the motivation, Wendy. :wizard: My eldest DS was just the same but took his studies slightly more seriously in the 2nd year of 6th form and did OK in the end. He's now 25 and in a good job which suits him much more than school/Uni ever did - honestly, it's hard to believe all the sleepless nights I had about him. I hope it's the same for you..

Plenty of    and pixiedust: coming your way.. I'm sorry he's been so ill (I remember you posting about it before) but he sounds a lovely sensible young man and spending the year getting properly well is definitely a good thing for him to do. Hope his re-sits go well... :wizard:

Well done, Emily!!! That's fantastic - my DD went to UCL and had a great time... :goodvibes

My DS Samuel did really well in his AS levels and got 4 As in Maths, further Maths, Chemistry & Physics. :worship: I'm SO, SO proud of him as he's had a difficult year health-wise and had to have an operation earlier in the year. We celebrated last night with a proper family meal at a local Italian and had a fab time. I should say he certainly doesn't get his brains from me - I guess my husband should take a bow!!! :lovestruc
