I'll say it. I wish nothing but the best for the former president. No, I wasn't a fan and I didn't vote for you either time, but I wish you well as you enjoy all that comes your way. Thanks for the laughs along the way and (sigh). Thanks for helping to pick us back up during the horrors of 9/11. Thanks, and remember, now you can relax a bit!

I am sorry to see him leave. President Bush has given Obama so many tools to keep this country safe. I pray that he will use them. He has ensured the most gracious transition that has ever. Karl Rove alluded to the vandalism that took place in the White House during the last transition; and said that they were told to deny that it happened. It happened. The Bushes are truly wonderful people and I will miss them.

I also wish President Bush and his family luck into the future.

Today he looked so very tired, and his wife looked drained... it was all there in their eyes. At first it made me a bit sad until I realized that tonight, for the first time in 8 years he will not have the weight of the world on his shoulders. That burden now belongs to someone else.

I wonder where he will go first? I hope he has a long vacation somewhere sandy.

Kind of makes you wonder what President Bush is now thinking. I've heard that the one thing most presidents miss when they leave office is the daily briefing, or something like that.

He said before you can be sure you won't see him on a beach with a drink in his hand, because he quit drinking. :lmao:

Yes. Take a good look at President Obama today; in 4 years he'll have many, many gray hairs, and some deep, permanent wrinkles. The office of the presidency takes its toll. These men age 20 years in 4 or 8.

I am sorry to see President Bush leave, but I am so happy for him and Mrs. Bush. I think they both deserve a wonderful retirement. I can only imagine how happy they will be to just relax at their home in Texas with their friends and family. :goodvibes It warms my heart to think about it. I wish him nothing but the best. :)

Very true. ::yes:: I'm sure that we will see Obama visibly age in these next 4 years.

That's what I was saying to DH. Obama will look categorically different at the end of his time of office. Look at Clinton in the 90's, he entered so young looking. But, by the time he left Office he was mostly white haired.

I was never a Bush supporter, but I wish both he and Laura Bush nothing but the best in their future lives. I wish nothing but good things to Cheney and his wife as well.:flower3:.

It is a difficult job and I can honestly say I think they did what they felt in their heart of hearts was right for this country.

I was never a fan of the choices he made but he had one of the most difficult terms in recent memory, probably the worst in our lifetime. And I do think he always tried to do what he felt was right. It's going to be interesting to see what causes he takes up in retirement.

I'm someone who did vote for Bush(and Clinton and Obama), but was very disappointed with many of his decisions, especially in his second term. I totally agree with your second paragraph though. I have often questioned Bush's competence in the last couple of years, but I have always believed he did what he thought was right.
