We plan on eating most of our meals in the room and off site. Can anyone tell me some good reasonable places to eat off site but not too far away?

I could google but not sure of the locations close by as we have never been to Orlando.

Thanks!

Try the Orlando forum too if you haven't yet.

I can vouch for Bahama Breeze being good.

Bahama Breeze is great...haven't eaten at the one near Disney but they have them here in GA. We never miss Pizzeria Uno Chicago Grill...we love deep dish Chicago style pizza but can't get it where we live. Also, there's a Seasons 52 near LBV...again, we have one in GA, and it's great.

We like Logan's, its on 192. A 5-8 min drive from All Stars. Ever been to a restaurant that serves the yeast rolls? Well at Logan's they use that as the bread for their sliders. If you sign up online they will send you a $5 off coupon when you spend $25. We went there one evening and it was happy hour I got buy 1 get 1 free margarita, they were good drinks, not skimpy on the tequilla. I thought they were they would probably be $7 - $8 but to my surprise they charged me $4.30 for the margaritas. Gotta love that. Even though we will be at Disney during free dining we will still go to Logan's for a meal. They don't have them down here in SE FL.

Down 192 in Kissimmee are a bunch of chain restaurants. We have had great luck wirh Golden Corral and Olive Garden.

I have been to a Logan's steakhouse here _ guessing it's the same restaurant.

I have never heard of "Bahama Breeze" but would certainly give it a try.

Debonna we are from GA too ~ we are south of you.

thanks for the info!

Sonny's Real Pit BBQ, I swear this place has some addictive food. I used to go there just about every week and the prices are reasonable as well. I'm not sure of prices as I haven't been there in about 8 years but it used to be like $7.99 for all the ribs, fries, slaw, beans, and garlic bread you can eat. And they have this sweet bbq sauce that is amazing. I order this stuff by the half gallon through their website. If your into BBQ definetly check this place out. There's one on Highway 192 in Kissimmee and a bunch in Orlando.

One of our favorites is Sweet Tomatoes. They have 2 locations in the area. The newest and closest is at Crossroads, the shopping center located on 535 at the end of the road coming from Downtown Disney past all the hotels.

It is an all you can eat but without all the deep fried everything found at most. You enter to a huge salad bar with every salad ingredient and topping you can think of as well as a variety of prepared salads.

Then there is a station with baked white and sweet potatoes with various toppings, a couple of pasta dishes and several breads including a 4 cheese foccacia and a garlic bread (yum).

There is a soup station with 6 or so delicious freshly made soups and toppings for those.

Finally, there is a dessert bar with soft serve ice cream, some type of warm cobbler, pudding, fresh fruit and some other goodies and toppings.

All of this is just $9.59 per person. I think it is one of the greatest deals around. The food is delicious and fresh, the service is always good and the place is clean as a whistle.

orlando ale house always used to be awesome. Havent been there in years. Really close to LBV. There is a hooters close by too... never ate there but have been there.

Sonnys is also awesome. Relatives that live in FL would take us there everytime we would come and visit.

I second this!! I wish we had Sweet Tomatoes where I live!

I agree with Sweet Tomatoes, Uno Chicago Grill, Sonnys and Golden Corral. The other one I would add is Fuddruckers (Same shopping center as Unos and the new Sweet Tomatoes by DD).

Sorta onsite (for Universal) but we ate at the City Walk's Latin QUarter last week. It was really good!

I also would put a vote in for Sonny's.....a great smaller chain that started in the Gainesville area. We also often go to the Sweet Tomatoes on Int'l Drive.

Another chain that we drive out of our way to go to down on 192 is Pollo Tropicale. All over in South FL, but not up here in the panhandle. Very yummy Caribbean grilled chicken, pork, etc. A fast food chain that is not junk food!

We have also gotten take out from Passage to India (the one that is right near Disney on 192) several times and it's always yummy!

If you like Italian, Carabas is great. It is near the Premium Outlets just off CR535.

If you are looking for a good steak place, there is a really good place. It is a little off the beaten path, but excellant. It is called Matthews. It is on Maguire Rd (about a 15 minute drive from WDW property).

Great thread. I was wondering this too. Will probably eat outside a few times this trip. Thank you.

The Margaritaville at Universal's City Walk has great hamburgers. There is also a good restaurant on International Drive in Orlando called Fish Bones (not sure how far that is from WDW).

I wanted to go there last week but I couldn't talk my family into it.

If you are looking for Chinese and don't want a buffet (there are a zillion of those), we like Taste of China in the Formosa Gardens shopping center on 192 West, not far from Disney at all.

I know I recommended Sweet Tomatoes but I always hate when people ask for restaurant suggestions and everyone responds with a list of big chains. Taste of China is independent. For nice Italian, there is Cafe D'Antonio in Celebration. The family has 3 places but I don't consider that a chain (and they aren't all the same). For pizza, Flipper's is a small chain (I think there are 3 or 4 now and a another opening soon by the new Super Target). We also tried NY Pizza World this trip and I liked it a lot, maybe even more than Flipper's. Also in Celebration, there is a nice but casual place called Angelina's that serves an American menu, kind of like an upscale diner.

My suggestion is restaurants.com. Put in the zip code an it will show restaurants that have 1/2 off gift certificates to purchase. Once you sign up, they'll send you e-mails with codes for a discount off the 1/2 off prices. We've gotten $25 gc for $2. There's usually a minimum you have to spend or other criteria so read before you purchase. For example, usually for a $25 gc you must spend a minimum of $35. We got a couple of $50 gc( spend 100) for $5 each. Used them at Bento for Sushi with another couple.
We checked out some restaurant reviews on metromix also.
