I'm about to begin planning a Disney wedding and honeymoon- I've noticed good tips and what to do and what not to do spread all over. I think it would be benefical to have them all in one place! So ladies and gentlemen if you have had a Disney wedding and know stuff now that you wish you had known before you had the wedding - let us know! Also any ideas for making the wedding unique! thanks

One thing I wish we did was the Magic Kingdom photo shoot, they are beautiful pictures.
Some things I highly recommend doing: the slipper dessert, comfetti canons, pin spotting lighting, beautiful and yummy cake and definetly have to have Mickey & Minnie. Our guests are still talking about all of these things that made our Wedding so special and it's 2 1/2 years later.
Disney offers so many things to make your day special, have fun planning and make it special for you.

Here are our Wedding pictures:

MK photo shooting time was only 1 hour and it's taken quite rush. So Think in advance of good poses or spots where you think you'll like.

If you have things unclear (for example, what is and isn't included in the MK photo package) , make sure you ask your wedding coordinator as many questions as possible.

Hi tchan03! Just wanted to say I love your website your photo's are great :) and you both looked like you had a fantastic day.

Great advice you guys! thanks!! What exactly are the slipper dessert, comfetti canons, and pin spotting lighting?? And feel free to post pics of your favorite poses so i can be ready!! thanks

Don't under estimate your room block!!! We got worried that we guessed too high and would have to pay for unbooked rooms, so we lowered ours, and they booked solid and now our guests are having a hard time getting rooms and it's still 8 months in advance!!!

 i cant believe they are that full in july, now i am worried my wedding is in august and we planned on blocking the minimum amount of rooms also. the thing is it is hard to say just how many room nights you will get in each resort :confused3 i dont even know how many ppl are coming :guilty:

Cinderella Slipper Dessert is a white chocolate slipper with real cream filling inside and a chocolate silhouette of the castle with a chocolate mouse cup( it's unbelievable), the comfetti cannons we had went off for our last dance, they hide the cannons in fake bushes near the DJ and the cannons shoot out confetti (lots of fun) and the pin spotting lighting is a beam of light that shines on each of the guest tables ( makes the room beautiful ) If you go into our photos there is a picture of all these things.
Have fun planning.

hmm i haven't had the wedding but I am getting closer :goodvibes I can say from the planning point of view..try not to be too anxious. While disney's schedule seems cramped or too close too the date, you need to trust them a little and sit back and enjoy the ride. They are experts at this. that doesn't mean do nothing or let things slip through the cracks but enjoy your planning time.

We have no idea how many are coming either, and now our guests are having to call everyday to see if anyone has cancelled. It's really inconvenient, especially when some of the people who got left out are immediate family members (including my sister who is the Matron of Honor!) However, my fiance panicked when we first did our room block and realized we would have to pay $100 for every room that didn't book, so I guess this is slightly less bad than that would have been :thumbsup2

What to do:
1. Definately appreciate the day because it goes by soo fast!! :Pinkbounc

2. Spend the extra money for a terrific photographer and videograher (Stan from STVS and Randy from Chapman Photography)...even though it might seem expensive at the time, photos and videos are so important once the big day is all over :happytv:

3. Treat yourself to one of the fun "treats" that Disney offers. For example, we tried not to go crazy with all the extras that Disney offered (nor could we afford to, like there was no way he could have done Cinderella's carriage) but we treated ourselves to some small, disney touches that were so special. We did as a pre-appetizer 50 individual cinderella glass slippers that were actually ice sculputures that had rasperry sorbet served inside of them and the sorbet was died to match my bridesmaids' dresses. They had small lights inside each of them so they all glowed! They looked amazing!! When they presented them at the reception, they dimmed the lights and played spectromagic music in the background. Our guests (and us as well!) were amazed!! Disney magic even in the food! We also skipped out on the champagne toast (ick! My husband and I don't care much for champagne) so we did a special toasting drink (Frozen Strawberry diaquries!) they looked incredible all coming out on trays!! :cheer2:

4. Book a great restaurant like 'Ohanas for a rehearsal dinner or get together before of after the wedding. This was such a great memory for us to have! We did 'Ohanas for our rehearsal (there were about 26 of us) and it was terrific!! The restarant was the perfect place to have a fun, stressfree meal! The food was delicious and they really catered to our group! We are so glad we did it! :grouphug:

5. MAKE SURE YOUR WEDDING COORIDNATER TELLS THE LIMO DRIVER WHERE TO PICK YOU UP ON THE DAY OF YOUR WEDDING!!! I assumed (you know what they say about those who assume..?!? :confused3 ) I waited and waited and waited in the lobby of the Beach Club Resort for over an hour to be picked up by the limo driver!!! Apparently, the limo driver was waiting at the Yacht Club!! Needless to say, I was 45 minutes late for my pictures at the Grand Floridian and my nice, stressfree hour long photo session at the GF turned into a stressful, hurried 13 minutes. :guilty: Just make sure everyone is one the same page.....my mom and dad were not happy realizing that after the amount of money they spend on my day, someone had forgotten the bride :confused3

6. Do a couples massage at the Grand Floridian. We made it a wedding present to each other (and then my sister in law ended up making that our wedding present!) and it was INCREDIBLE!! Romantic doesn't even begin to describe it!! That is something we have never done together, and I never thougth I'd get my big, manly sports-lovin husband into a spa but we really both loved it! A great experience!!! :goodvibes

7. Do book Carolyn Allens to do dress pressing or tuxedo renting. We went through her for both and they were incredible. They truly came through for us. They are true professionals and just having them there, they really look out for you. My mother had gotten something on her dress. My mom started to panic, but (forgive me, I can't remember the dear woman that come) but she worked and worked getting the stain out. When she was done, it was good as new. A lifesaver to a tad-stressed mother of the bride! :bounce:

What not to do:
1. Let anyone critize your plans or your ideas! This is your day and only you know what you have envisioned since you were a child! Dream big girl! princess:

2. Don't put yourself or your parents in the poor house for this wedding. I was very fortunate to have my parents pay for our wedding, but I also have 2 sisters so I was given a strict limit and I knew I had to stay within that budget. You can do a beautiful wedding without breaking the bank. It's all about choices. But nothing is worth being in dept for years and years. Enjoy the day, but stay within the ballpart of your budget :wizard:

3. Don't forget your marriage license! Can't do anything on the wedding day without that!! Have lots and lots of people remind you about that!! :dance3:

so what happens if none of the resorts get any availability :confused3

Some have availability, just not in our room block. That means that either

A They have to stay at another resort and try to get over to get ready with us in the AM of the wedding as well as pay full rack rate price for that room.

OR

B They all have to stay at the Contemporary in a tower room (which is all that's available) at a cost almost 2 1/2 times our block rate.

I'm hoping that once the renovations are finished with the north garden wing, they will open up a bunch of new ressies. It's not the same wing, but it's better than being at a different resort! :thumbsup2
