HI everyone,

I've been lurking around this area & have picked up some great info- thanks to all! Thinking of changing my WDW trip to Universal. We are planning 4 nights somewhere near or on property & i have some ??'s

Where do you find the super saver rates?
Is there a nice hotel off-site with a nice pool for DS12 & DD6?
I don't want to spend too much as DH isn't coming & I feel bad going while he's homw working.

we stayed at the ramada plaza maingate, it wasnt 5 star but we liked it. The heated indoor pool was a huge bonus and we got a free ( yes free) room upgrade so the kids had their own little room.

The Doubletree on Major Blvd is a good hotel and has a big pool but nothing fancy but nice to relax and if you have a AAA card you can go to AAA site and they have some really good rates for The Doubletree.

For me, the Holiday Inn on International Drive, is a very decent hotel, that is cheaper than the on-site hotels. Haven't checked lately, but last I was there it was around 100 a night.

Also, they have a pretty nice pool with a waterfall. The waterfall pool is one of the key factors I considered when I chose it.

We have stayed at the Nick Hotel. The waterpark/pool is great, and so is the nighttime family shows, on the other hand the hotel - just ok. We would probably stay there again DD7 loves it.

I stayed at the Residence Inn by Marriott Orlando Convention Center last August and it was great. Although it's really a business hotel there were plenty of families there when I stayed with my borther and two friends. The pool is good - small but safe - and there is even a BBQ pool side so you can cook out with the kids. A nice atmosphere too and the staff were great. I would also recommend the La Quinta Inn & Suites Orlando Convention Center for the same reasons (minus the BBQ). Breakfasts are great in both places too so you can fuel up before you hit the parks (and maybe take some extra fruit etc to chomp on during the day!).

I would recommend the Doubletree on Major Boulevard too. It is a nice hotel and is within walking distance of Universal. Except for crossing the street at Kirkman Rd, it is a very pleasant walk.

I agree and the crossing at Kirkman isn't bad but you do have to step lively :lmao: :lmao:
