WOW, and I thought last year was bad - and even wrote another thread on it - but it has nothing on this year - $234.20 for 2 people with express pass? YIKES!

hehe, that's a steal compared to what we are paying....LOL but HHN is always worth it... :goodvibes

Ok - so that means my family of now 8 with two infants and a toddler will have to pay a price equivalent to a small country to go.

Oh well - maybe we will have to postpone it again. My birthday is November 02 - so i wanted to go this year and celebrate my birthday.

I have always heard of HHN - but do not really understand the concept. I just know the chainsaw people scare the mess out of you. Are the rides open? Or is it just like a huge collection of awesome haunted houses?

i am assuming the at FOTL does not apply to HHN or everyone would not be purchasing the express pass - and we are now spoiled so i would have to get the express.

If this keeps you from taking two infants and a toddler to HHN, then it's a good thing.

Yes, I agree. I would not take any kid under the age of 13 to this event. And universal also recommends no kids. It would be OVERLY scary for them. Unfortunately, I did see one or two children who were screaming/crying and not in a good way.

yes, chainsaws, noisemakers, air guns, flame throwers, and every area is themed differently, most rides are usually open during HHN and theres a huge collection of haunted houses also

Ok flame away on me but. I attended last year. Once will be enough for me. I know, it had most to do with the weather. Not the fault of Universal. I know. I think it was Wilma. That destroyed my HHN Experience. I was looking so forward to it, the months before. I just didnt get it. . Maybe it was the pounding rains, and forceful winds, which made the scareactors hide and take cover. Or my soaked jeans, and sneakers. I remember, this one house the name escapes, but it had a tall man with a black suit, and a white face/mask.That was scary/fun. Despite the weather. I tried to make the most out of it. But there was hardly any scareactors in the streets. I am sure, they couldnt get thier costumes, and makeup wet. I tried HHN, and because of the weather, and lack of the whole experience feeling I dont think I ever will again. Especially now, with the price hike.

Faindrops, they gave comp tickets for HHN for all the guests that came to Guest Services on that night. You could have then gone a different night for free. They even reissued the express passes for another date if you purchased them and got caught in the storm.

This isn't meant as a flame, but that's a pretty ridiculous reason not to try HHN again. In 2002, I visited HHN on a night that a small tornado was rumored to have touched down backstage. It was absolute hell until the (cold, hard) rain finally stopped, almost four hours after the event started. We still got most of the haunted houses done, but we knew we weren't getting anything close to the full experience. We knew exactly what to expect from HHN, but the fact that we didn't get it on that specific night was no one's fault. I simply asked for comp tickets to another night, and they gave some to us.

I've been going to HHN for 5 years now and that was the only time it's ever rained while I was there. But I wouldn't stop going if it happened again.

wow, I didn't know Universal controlled the weather too for HHN - I'm impressed! :lmao:

seriously though, the weather is not their fault, obviously - so why wouldn't you want to give it a try in better weather? It is worth it.

See Radio. I knew. I would get flamed. But, I never stated it was Universals fault about the weather. So, don't put words on me. Read my post through, and see what I said. Before jumping.

Anyhow, FLA. Good that you will go back. I just wont. Not, that Universal will lose any monies from this one lonely patron either. I give them way enough money to enter their parks. :goodvibes I love Universal!! :goodvibes . I just had a poor time at HHN. That does not overshadow, my feelings about Universal. Honestly speaking. But, shhh dont tell the people at the Disney forum. I enjoy Universal parks, more than disney!! JMHO I am not on here trying to stir the pot. I am not a troll. I simply stated my feelings. No harm intended.

Phamton, I never knew about them reissuing of tickets. Yes, I did have the express plus passes also.

I'm not flaming at all - it was just a little light-hearted teasing - I apologize. I just want all who love halloween as I do to really get the good out of this event in its full glory!

HHN is the main reason I keep working at Universal. I think I went at least 5 times last year. I look forward to it all year. (yes, I know, I have no life ;) )

oh i am sorry if i portrayed that - the children were never in the plans to go. They are all under two! I really just meant that if it is over 200 for two people - it is going to cost of fortune for my family with eight adults!

good to know about how scary that is. i am not sure if my mom would enjoy it. it sounds like a bunch of fun though.

my IL's are going with us to WDW but they are not going to HHN b/c I think it would be too much for them. Also, most of the lights are off so night time is VERY dark.

look on the bright side goNDmay9, atleast you won't have to pay for portofino bay next trip! it's worth going back just for that. we were there this summer same time as you but last year we were there in october. my kids 13, 21, 22 ok, last two are big kids, had a blast. we had front of the line during the day because we were staying at rph so the kids were bummed about having to wait in long lines at night. i know they waited in the mummy line for 90 minutes. they said if they did it again, they would mostly walk around and do the haunted houses and not wait in long lines for the rides. (especially when you can do them during the day without waiting) hhn was worth the trip for them. hubby and i and my parents opted out for a nice dinner instead on the night they went! ....and october weather in florida is wonderful, no rainstorm every afternoon like in the summer.

The October weather is usually nice. Last year, it was unbearably humid. I remember feeling sorry for some of the scareactors who had to wear heavy make-up or costumes at HHN. You'd swear it was the middle of the day. In July. By the end of the month, it finally started to feel more like Fall.

ok - so what do they express passes allow you to express? Is it the haunted houses?

Yes...EP will allow you to go through each house and attraction once...just like during the day.

:sad2: I just found out the prices this year! Holy COWWWWWWW

I've had the room reserved since January but DH has declared no way, no how is he paying 51.07 for the Sat ticket and 63 and change for the express. We can't go any different night due to work so looks like for the first time in years, we'll be skipping HHN :guilty:

I *may* still go with my brother and sister on a Thursday night since I don't work Fridays.....we'll see.
